The menu is huge and it took time to pick something out among the many choices. We had crab cakes and seafood alfredo. Both quite good. The owner came to every table to greet guests and chat. They have an admirable mission statement and work ethic. The place has a lot of history and artifacts from its many decades in... More

We were led upstairs and walked through a dingy restaurant with carpet that was so gross and dirty if you spilled water on it you have gravy. We left wondering what the kitchen must look like. A tourist trap not worth the bother with so many terrific local restaurants keep walking!

I will start by saying that Hyman's has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. We actually went twice while we were in Charleston. The location is nice. There are autographed plates on the walls of famous people who have eaten there, and all of the tables have small plaques with the names of famous people also. It's... More

Went in on a weeknight and it was still somewhat busy. Service and food were both good, but the decor was simply cool. Bunch of pictures of famous people who had been there over the years. Will definitely try it again.

Our server, Clifton, made us feel welcome right away. He explained the menu and the specials completely. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, alligator sausage po boy and the crab cakes. All were delicious and the po boy was humongous! Highly recommend visiting this establishment!

Waitress was great. Restaurant needed a good scrub down. I ordered the calamari tacos. The portion was huge, but calamari was definitely not fresh and marginal at best. Did not want to return.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night while we were in Charleston on vacation. We had a long wait as I assume is a normal thing for a Saturday night, but the weather was nice and the people working outside were very nice. We had never been before, so when we were seated, we wanted a chance to look... More

We were walking around downtown and decided to try Hymans. We had eaten here many years ago and decided to give it a go. It was quite busy, but we got our drinks fairly promptly and waited about 30 min for our mussels. They were excellent and came with some great garlic bread. I also had the she crab soup... More

With over 4000 TA reviews we had to try this place out and WOW! it was great.  From the young man who met us at the door to our server to the owner who came around and personally thanked us for coming in it was an outstanding experience. It started with free boiled peanuts (the wife ate them all) and... More

We visited Charleston and found Hyman's Restaurant. We wondered why there is always a line outside. After eating there, we fully understand. The food is great and the service is excellent. The owner and the manager both came by to check on our meal and service. Everything was great!
