We dined at Peninsula Grill last week for the second time and wondered if it would be as special as it was our first time five years ago. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding as was the service. We arrived early—not realizing dinner...didn't start until 5:30, but the bartender offered to check us in while we took our cocktails out to the courtyard. We were seated in the charming outdoor area right on time. Our server Cris was amazing and made our dining experience top-notch. Keep up the fabulous job Peninsula Grill— you are very special!!More

We ate at the Peninsula Grill for dinner one night and for breakfast on three days. We stayed at the Planters Inn for 3 nights and the Peninsula Grill restaurant is downstairs and very convenient. The food and customer service was very good. I had...grilled salmon and my husband had trout. The coconut cake was excellent too. The breakfast was delicious and the portions big. We ate outside in the terrace area multiple days and it is was quaint and pleasant.More

My SO and I loved this place. A romantic setting. Good food. My scallops were delicious and she loved the chicken. Coconut cake finished the night on the up side.

We had a memorable quiet romantic dinner on a Sunday night. Bread, apps, entree, wine list was spectacular and icing literally on the cake was a piece of the coconut cake! Big enough for two , had to get one to go which we unfortunately...left in the airport. Will definitely return.More

The food is outstanding. The service is impeccable. The staff is welcoming and friendly and professional. One of the best parts is Wayne the Bartender at their Bar. We frequently stop in for a cocktail just to see Wayne. His signature move is to introduce...folks at the Bar so you meet people from all over. It is fun to interact with others and the conversation is always lively. Don't miss this iconic spot in Charleston. Be sure to go early to have a cocktail with Wayne!More

My daughter and I had been planning a special trip to Charleston to celebrate her 30th Birthday for many weeks and wanted to begin the celebration with dinner at the Peninsula Grill. We were staying at the attached lovely hotel, The Planters Inn, and were...very excited for a special dinner. We had carefully made our dinner reservation weeks ahead of our visit... and I even made a follow-up call to ensure that we were all set. We arrived for dinner at 7:00pm on April 1st- dressed up and ready to enjoy. The Maitre De station is in the bar area - and was bustling with customers. Upon giving our name and reservation, the Maitre De in a very condescending manner indicated he couldn’t find a reservation in our name... he then asked if there could be another phone or name it could be under and continued to indicate we weren’t on the evening’s list. After sharing that we had received 2 confirmations of our reservation, he very reluctantly seated us... getting our evening off to an embarrassing and uncomfortable start. Basically, we were made to feel that we had taken a spot not meant for us... not a good feeling! Dinner continued with an odd feeling that regardless of what we ordered, we were being upsold on ordering more sides, more expensive entrees, etc. My daughter and I have dined at many fine restaurants and both commented that we had never experienced that type of pressure from the waitstaff. We remained very pleasant, ordered some items we didn’t even want and tried to enjoy our evening. Certainly the coconut cake was fabulous and we appreciated the candle and festive happy birthday drizzle on the plate. But as we reflected on our evening, we felt remiss not sharing our experience. If you want to enjoy a special meal.... and not be demeaned or pressured....go to another fine restaurant in Charleston-and get a piece of coconut cake to go!More

My wife and I decided to try the Peninsula Grill for dinner our first night in Charleston. To be quite honest, this place lives up to the hype. This is a fine dining establishment, gentleman are still required to wear jackets. The service was perfect...and the food was absolutely delicious. We ended the meal with coffee and a huge slice of their coconut cake. If you stop by this is an absolute must!! We cannot wait to dine here agin.More

This was our second trip to Peninsula Grill. The food was amazing, as usual. Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the standards of a Relais and Chateaux property. Our waitress abandoned us after the entrees arrived. Someone finally noticed and cleared the dishes 15...minutes after we finished.More
