Husband loved the hangar steak, and don't miss the mac n cheese! Wonderful salad and side veggies are fresh and tasty. We didn't have room for dessert but it sure looked good. Great service, love the wood smoke smell and the friendly atmosphere. Always on our list now for visits to Charleston.

As most good steakhouses are, Burwell's is not cheap. But the quality of their steaks, of which they have a significant variety, meets all expectations--juicy, delicious, tender. The lobster bisque was perhaps the richest in flavor of any I have had, and I certainly like to sample that and clam chowder when given the chance. The side dish I ordered,... More

The LowCountry is known for it's great seafood, but what a surprise to find beautiful cuts of beef and lamb chops which can be prepared on a 700 degree stone at your table. The selection of wines goes beyond your traditional Cabernet or Pinot Noir. This was our first here, however it will not be our last💫

Only being there for 2 nights, I was going crazy finding the perfect restaurant. What a great choice. The waitress was very helpful with our questions. We started with the devil eggs, incredible. I ordered the Wagyu black flat iron, unbelievable, the best steak I have ever had. My husband had the NY strip, also great. The sides are made... More

Burwell's was one of my first memories of Charleston and Yelp actually. We went here after my first Yelp event with a whole group of people. It was a nice spring day and we decided to occupy the upstairs which back then was used to replace the burned down Speakeasy on E Bay. We ordered the famous stone grill where... More

We reserved a table for 10 people and it was to be a Business introductions meal. The waiter was trying to get us to change our minds for every Entree we ordered. It is almost as he was trying to steer us to what the retairant wanted to sell instead of what we wanted to eat! The waiter mis-identified the... More

Read the reviews before visiting Charleston and made a reservation for our first night. What a great find!!! Such a fun, eclectic place. We had a great waiter and that really made the experience (wish we could remember his name, but he told us he went to Berklee College of Music for 2 weeks and now manages bands??) We started... We happened upon Burwells when looking for a decktop bar from which to see the sunset. The first floor restaurant décor was very upscale and looked very nice. The decktop bar is up some stairs and was small without any view. The bartender was friendly and so we stayed for a happy hour $5 wine by the glass which was... More

I'm into steak but that night after a lot of heavy eating in Charleston (easy to do with all the fabulous restaurants), I was tired of huge cuts of meat. I tried the ragu and that was the best, best, best I've had in a long time, even outshining several Italian restaurants. It's not something you expect from a restaurant... More

The Award-Winning, casual steakhouse serves local, seasonal ingredients and its nose-to-tail efforts made famous by the "Hot Rock" program have caused quite a stir. Toss in the local seafood and vegetables and you'll find out why they've been the best kept secret in Charleston. Indoor - Outdoor Dining. "There is no other steak like it!"
