I was in Pittsburgh to visit family over the Thanksgiving holiday and our host selected this fine restaurant for a family meal with a group of ten. The service was good, slow at times. As there was sometimes a longer delay between courses Our seating was semi-private as we were in a room en route to the upper level where... More

It is all great. This place will knock your sox off. Little pricey, but worth every dollar. The side pasta is by far the best I ever had, in any city, by any chef. The breads, dips, spreads and appetizers start the meal off delightfully. Then, the salads. Oh my. Every entrée is outstanding. I take guests every year for... More

I had the worst dining experience of my life at Alla Famiglia last evening. I had a 5 p.m. reservation; a friend whom I rarely see from out of state was visiting my husband and me and it was a special occasion. As we were finishing our appetizers and several drinks -- one hour into our meal -- the waiter,... More

The food, in general, is good. However, it is considerably overpriced. The ambience could be improved. Seating is too tight. Service is good but slow.

Even though the neighborhood is a little sketchy this restaurant was a hidden gem the service was perfect the ambience was family-style restaurant with open kitchen and as soon as you walked in the door the smell hit you in the face. I would rate this as one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever eaten in the bread and... More

I was in Pittsburgh on business and a local colleague recommended Alla Famiglia to us. We were a group of 14 people and they handled us well. Our server was very knowledgeable about their dishes, wines and portion sizes. with dinner comes salad and pasta, and here was where I had a small problem with them. 12 of us ordered... More

That's no exaggeration either. Every time we visit Pittsburgh we make it a point to eat here. Perhaps my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere in this great country of ours ! Their veal,be it veal chop or veal cutlets are first rate and the best ever. Their sauces ,marinara, vodka or meat are excpetional. To that point we always bring them home... More

From beginning to end our food there was delicious. Starting with the three wonderful options to eat the bread. The meatball appetizer is outstanding. The salad was very good. The pasta course which is pasta à la vodka very tasty. My husband and I both chose Veal dishes, very generous portions. For dessert we chose tiramisu which was served with... More

We visited this restaurant when visiting Pittsburgh as a recommendation from our friends who live in Pittsburgh. What a gem! There is no way a visitor would know about this place without the recommendation. This is your typical Italian hole-in-the-wall restaurant in a not-so-nice neighborhood, but it is the best Italian food we ever ate in Pittsburgh!!! The place is... More

An outstanding meal starting with a Calamari & shrimp appetizer finishing with a veal chop milanese cooked to perfection. If you do not mind climbing to the third floor and eating on a wobbly card table with a table cloth on it you should make your reservations with that in mind.
