The restaurant is historic which is cool...food (i.e. schnitzel) was tough and not seasoned, got the bavarian nachos had barely any toppings on it, potato pancakes were unflavored and rubbery...food seemed made quickly and rushed. Nice German beer selection.

My wife and I enjoyed the casual relaxed atmosphere. Our server was friendly and helpful. My wife had a generous portion of Kassler Ripchen (pork loin) with sauerkraut and German potato salad. She said she enjoyed it. I had a schnitzel which was good. Prices...More

My grandmother was first generation American of German immigrants and married a german immigrant. I cannot recommend the potato pancakes but I liked the Spatzle and bratwurst. The atmosphere was very appealing and old world.

Always wonderful food. Quaint atmosphere. Homey feeling like an old restaurant in Pittsburgh. Deserts are yummy.

We went here with family for brunch. There is both a fixed menu to order off of and a buffet. The buffet had a lot on it including some good German food and breakfast items. I highly recommend this place.

A Sunday night dinner at Max's and you know you are in for authentic German specialties, just by looking at your fellow diners; German Grandma's with the whole brood in tow. What could be better than schnitzel and beer, go for it.
