My family and I always enjoy the Ale House. Layla is our favorite waitress. She just brightens our day whenever she is there. She is always on top of things and brings our drinks out right away. She even remembers what we like!!! My 93 year old Dad enjoys their turkey platter. My husband and I like their hot roast... More

Great Roast Beef Sandwiches, inexpensive dinners, and a neighborhood restaurant that is a staple in Newtown Square. Excellent offering of craft brews.

Been here more than one occasion when I wanted a good hot Roast Beef sandwich. Although it is not cheap & nothing special about the place just a local bar that is friendly with decent service

We live in Newtown Square and have considered the Ale House our 'go to' restaurant for a quick bite. Roast beef sandwiches do not come rare and au jus very salty. After the last time we went with mediocre food and a large check we decided we will not be back. Sorry to have to say that!

Can't believe all the crying about high prices. This place has been here about 50 years and it looks it. Stop in here maybe 1x a year when visiting family and am never disappointed but sounds like the long time locals miss the old owner but guys---they retired so let's move on. Prices are still crazy reasonable with good cold... More

My bride and I stopped in for an early dinner on a weeknight. Place was empty when we got there but the bar had filled up by the time we left. Our dinners, roast beef sandwiches were good but at $ 11.00 they should be good. Our server, as all servers there, seemed distracted and more interested in talking to themselves.

I've visited here several times over the years. Sometime last year, I noticed a drop off in the food quality. The remodeled place looks better, same friendly service, but the portions are smaller and nothing tastes as good as it did. Worse, the roast beef sandwiches that were their calling card are now not cut forma rare roast. It looks... More

Did take-out the other day. I called the order in from a menu that was maybe a year old.. In that menu the hot roast beef sandwiches were $7.95, when I went to get them they were $11 each! Ouch!. Two RD sandwiches and 2 Coleslaws with tax was over $29!!! They gave us a new menus, fewer selections than... More
