Well worth the two-hour drive! JJJ has become a family favorite. The menu is adventuresome and the execution flawless. Tonight I enjoyed Venison that was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a most unusual, nutty rice. My wife enjoyed a tuna tartare as a starter that was incredible, followed by chicken pretending to be pheasant (they sold out the pheasant) that... More

We had an excellent dining experience last weekend with a group of 7. Julia gave us great service. The menu was interesting, local, and everyone enjoyed dinner. My husband loves their "The Other Wilson" drink, he orders it every time we're there. As far as interior decor, the bar is a really neat but the dining area where we are... More

My wife and I eat here whenever we can. How many of you have been to a restaurant and looked at the menu and made a decision based on what you are willing to eat? John J. Jefferies is one of the few restaurants where choosing a dinner entrée is truly a hard decision of desire. One of the best... More

There was so many wonderful dishes to choose from so we decided to stick with their small dishes menu and we were not disappointed. The thought and the details to the presentation and the flavors was really extraordinary. Also the bar and cocktails were delicious.

The food was excellent and the service was great. The overall atmosphere was not quite like I had hoped for since it was our anniversary but we would certainly still recommend this place. I was hoping for a quiet dinner and a little less travel by the table by others.

I enjoy this restaurant for special occasions because the quality of the food is really good. I love farm-to-table dining. The locally sourced ingredients taste fresh, and I enjoy the idea of dining in season. I'm always impressed with the food, often eating things I wouldn't have otherwise tried. I do wish the atmosphere was a bit more interesting, and... More

There are so many things to like about this place. Interesting decor, fairly quiet, exceptional service, visits to the table by the owner, and great "organic" food. I had the meatballs, my wife had the pulled pork. $22 each. Took home lunch. Free parking in the Arts Hotel garage. A real gem.

I ate here last weekend with my husband. I had 2 small plates and they were decent sized portions and my husband had one large plate. We both loved all the food (it's local and seasonal and tasted very fresh). The customer service was excellent too! Would go back again.

The experience staying overnight in this special spot is one you can not wait for another special event so you can return!! The bartenders are very attentive to making your most favorite cocktail and have a few of their own specialties! Close walk to the downtown so you can truly enjoy the sites and shops

Description
During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him.

We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants.
As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant.
All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs.

Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs.

We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.
