A destination restaurant with the celebrity cache of Rick Stein. We had visited nearly seven years ago when last in the vicinity - and it is as fresh as it was all those years ago. We were lucky enough to enjoy lunch and dinner at Rick Stein's. Service is exceptional and so is the setting. For lunch we sat on the verandah which was gorgeous, shaded and cool. Lots of seafood on the menu and all the food is well prepared and presented. Nice touches like specially made chocolates or caramels when you order coffee.

The title says it all. The seafood is tasty and fresh and the wines have been well chosen. Our dessert was light and cleansing, just what you need after a spicy salmon. Make Bannisters that special stop on your south coast trip.

Our restaurant is a reflection of Rick's passion for seafood and the coastal lifestyle which he has enjoyed for most of his life. As he says: "nothing is so exhilarating as fresh fish, simply cooked". He believes that fresh seafood should speak for itself. While he enjoys occasional fine dining, his food is much more about what he really likes to eat: a plate of Clyde River oysters, a pot of Illawarra prawns with mayonnaise, a mound of spanner crab, a slice of blue eye or a perfectly grilled sand whiting.We like our service to be informal but observant and enjoy employing local people who may lack the total polish of fine dining restaurants, but who more than make up for it with a genuine welcome.Peter Bacon, General Manager
