Peter and staff did it again with an excellent meal for the Devizes Food Festival. Peter explained all the dishes and they had worked hard to find food of the Regency period which suited today's tastes. The penny loafer and foraged butter was exceptional.

Lovely dinner at The Bistro. Excellent choice of gluten free food and knowledgeable recommendations by the lovely host. Well cooked fresh food and good wines. Imaginative puddings too. Friendly relaxed atmosphere and obviously popular with locals too. What a great restaurant!

Really excellent food and really excellent wine. I ordered a bottle of Mexican wine and it turned out to be one of the best reds I've tasted - as thick as engine oil (but much better tasting, of course). The wine had such intense flavour that the staff talked it though with me when they brought it to the table.... More

We moved to the area a few years ago and had yet to visit the Bistro, so went in a group of 4 on a Saturday evening. Our server was really friendly and we had a nice table upstairs. The menu looked good and I liked the way it was priced. The house red was delicious and the bottle of... More

The set menu options gave a good range of foods for really exceptional value. The quality of the food was really outstanding from the deliciously tasty onion bread (we had to ask that the bread basket was taken away were SO tempted) to the exceptional dishes served for each course. Even the vegetables had a certain something about them which... More

The food was very good, the staff questioned about allergies, required cooking preferences on the Tuna steak. I had the lamb chops which were excellent. Good starters. You feel that the portions are quite small, but having had 3 courses was very satisfied. The 3 courses at £27.50 was very good. Will be back again when next in Devizes. Might... More

Once again Vaughan's Kitchen Cookery School hosted a business breakfast for the local small business community. Peter was kind enough to prepare us a Spanish breakfast in his own inimitable fashion which was enjoyed by all. Most of the gusts were impressed by the wide range of cookery classes on offer so hopefully most of us will return for a... More

Popped in for lunch & sat by the window, sweet little place and has 30 more seats downstairs. Staff and chef were very friendly and extremely passionate about there food. We were offered a wide range of drinks with me deciding on a local pale ale. Partner had mezzo platter starter and I had the scotch egg. As you can... More

Description
As the original Bistro in Devizes (established 2003) we pride ourselves on being true to the original concept - that is a small, family run establishment (usually with a chef owner) providing a menu that often features slow cooked, seasonal dishes. The setting is traditional in that it is informal, relaxed and cosy. However, we are known for food that 'tickles the tastebuds', is influenced by a range of cuisines and always has The Bistro 'twist" to it. Open both at lunch time and in the evening, we have the distinction of also running a cookery school, now known as Vaughan's Cookery School and operating from another location in the town. Committed to sharing a passion for good food, Chef Peter Vaughan is a member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and of the Slow Food Movement.
