Nice drinks. However toilet is very poor and need improvement. There is a 2" hole in the door where a lock has been removed and the toilet seat hinge is broken. Very nice position tho. Just needs a small bit off tlc

Small little cafe but nicely decorated. Quite a nice menu with a few different items but as we were wanting to sit outside on the... More

The whole family met with some friends for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The cafe is in a nice position especially if you have children or dogs as the surrounding park has great facilities including a skate park and a children's play area. The building itself ( owned by the local council I imagine) is the usually 70's bland concrete... More

I visit here often and am never let down by the quality of the excellent food. My favourite is the locally produced cheeseburger and the coffee is to die for. Don't get me started on the home made cakes and super ice cream !

My wife and I often walk the towpath nearby, and the café is THE place to call in for a drink and a cake. Staff are just so cheerful, and we are made to feel so welcome,

Description
We are a small and friendly, community centric cafe that strives to meet the needs of the 'Park People'. We are located in the old pavillion in Calder Holmes Park, with the river on one side and the beautiful canal on the other. We serve quality food from a simple but varied menu with meat and vegetarian options, the ingredients for which are locally and ethically sourced. Choose from a range of freshly prepared sandwiches and salads, fresh fruit smoothies, great fairtrade and organic coffee, the tasty Park Life Burger, falafel pitta or a good ol' bacon butty! We offer 22 exciting and enticing flavours of local dairy ice cream that is served from our hatch at the side of the cafe building. Sit inside and listen to some good tunes, read from our bookshelf or flick through one of the interesting magazines we subscribe to. Or just look out the window, out across the old bowling green and watch the birds busy in the treetops. We pride ourselves on our strong community ethos (having been qualified youth and community workers in another life!) and work closely with the Friends of Calder Holmes Park to try and improve and develop the park, a valuable and dynamic public space.
