I’ve been here before over the last 10 years as it’s has changed owners and it has waxed and waned in quality. This time I took a business party of 9 people, the place was empty and despite this the service was slow as molasses...and poor. It was Waiters third day and it showed, he didn’t offers appetizers, didn’t offer desert no help or mentorship from owner who basically did nothing. Not going back, do not recommend At the end they count fi no help no mentorship from ownerMore

Went to a late dinner at Union Canal House during recent stay in Hershey. The service was excellent the owner was onsite and greeted us. Even going as far as to give us a tour of the tunnel that connects the old colonial area restaurant...to the equally old fort across the street. It is an old building and is kept up nicely. The food was excellent we had Filet, Crab Cakes, and our kids had chicken. Everyone enjoyed the food. My kids even liked the vegetables which is not the norm for them. I highly recommend going to this restaurant if you are in HersheyMore

Although prices are on the high side, the food and drinks are delicious. I had the crab cakes and they were absolutely delicious, full of lump crabmeat and little, if any, filler. The steaks are melt in your mouth delicious and cooked to perfection. They...have a full bar, craft beers, wine and mixed drinks. The wines are a generous pour as were mixed drinks. Our server, Marcus, was very attentive and engaging. We have had him on several occasions and he is very knowledgeable. The owner was there tonight and she was very nice. Take a chance on this restaurant and you won't be disappointed!More

First off, plan on robbing a bank before you go to this place. It's very expensive. I will have to say in thier defense, there were like only 3 people working that evening so they were understaffed, but for the money I paid I expected...much better. The service was horrible, but then again the girl waiting our table wasn't even a waitress. The food was okay except my wife got drunk on the shrimp scampi. Pretty sure you're only supposed to put in a quarter of a cup of wine and not the whole bottle in there. I guess maybe it just wasn't my night.More

First, the owner was very rude and standoffish. The service was unacceptable, never checking on us and not evening knowing answers to basic questions. The food was just ok, but extremely overpriced. Not much of a menu selection. Don't waste your money, go somewhere else.

You need to know where you are going to find it. Adequate parking. Some deferred cleaning options. Crazy busy on our visit. We had reservations and had to wait another hour for our table. But once we got seated,, good service, old school menu of...good tasting food- it is fully priced but very popular and the food is good.More

Good service, a beautiful location, but costs more than I expected. . . but that might be just me! The kids had a good time there.

We traveled to Hershey on New Year's Eve for the Jeff Dunham show. We called the Union Canal House asking if they had seating for 11. They said yes they have a party of 10 finishing up and to come right over. Upon arriving we...were told it will be 1/2 hour wait, no problem. Most of our party went and sat at the bar. While the rest of us we were waiting another couple arrived and was seated....the hostess took forever to come back out and when she finally did the lobby was full of people with reservations. She looked surprised.....seriously. These people had reservations she should have been up front the whole night waiting for the guests to arrive. Every time she sat someone she took forever to come back. Then she told us our table was ready but she had to seat everyone with reservations first. After about 50 minutes...we were seated to find out the menu was limited to 3 entrees and the cost was $55.00 a person. Out of 11, 5 stayed for dinner. We did not like the options on the menu. This is something we should have been told when we called. The Hostess then stated next time we should make reservations. REALLY....we called and she told us to come right over. The best part, we never saw a party of 10 leave and the table they sat us at was set up the entire time we were there with no one sitting at it. There were plenty of empty tables. I would never go back there again. Hostess was horrible!More

My husband and I traveled to Hershey, PA in September for an event. Not being familiar with the area, we searched for some unique places for dinner. Union Canal House Restaurant was a wonderful find! Deborah was very welcoming upon walking in the door! The...atmosphere of the restaurant is great, with pictures of the history of the place on the walls. Deborah's husband, Bill was gracious enough to give us a tour of the underground tunnel at the close of our evening, which was a wonderful history lesson! Thanks Bill!! The chicken piccata was great, and I would recommend it! The accompanying house potatoes and fresh vegetables were excellent. Cristy our Server was very nice and took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed! It was a wonderful evening that we thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks Deborah & Bill for a great evening! We look forward to stopping by again on our next trip to PA.More

We were visiting Hersheypark and happened to find this place on the Open Table app. We decided to give it a try. The place is gorgeous and there isn't a corner that isn't impeccably decorated. Super clean as well. The owner herself greeted us. It...wasn't super busy and we had 4 adults, a 10 year old, 7 year old and a 2 year old. They have a kids menu as well. They had homemade Sangria which was out of this world. The food took a little while but we were in no hurry. It was well worth the wait ! Some of the most delicious food we have ever had. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the visit and made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. This is an upscale place with excellent food and drinks and they are priced accordingly. If you want a dining experience to remember, I definitely recommend this hidden gem.More

For the money, I'd suggest trying the Hotel Hershey. I have never eaten there but anyone I know who has says it is excellent. With it being Christmas, you may have better luck finding an open restaurant if it is attached... More
