My wife and I were looking for locally roasted, great quality coffee beans for our french press while staying in Welches. We asked some locals and they all told us to come to Mt. Hood Roasters for them. So we did. The place looks quirky...and there are a few outdoor seats as well as good social distancing protocols. I found the staff very friendly, and, when asked which of their dozen varieties of beans they'd recommend, gave me a solid recommendation that has turned out to be spot on. And I noticed that locals were coming to get their various coffee beverages, which bodes well for tourists and visitors coming here for coffee. I highly recommend MHR!More

This tiny coffee house really doesn't have a place to sit and enjoy your drink. But you can watch the coffee being roasted. You can sip a variety of novel drinks (matcha nitro cold brew). The staff is very friendly.

Found this place on google maps while looking at the drive around Mt Hood. Nice surprise. Coffee was excellent. We took a couple bags home to Wisconsin with us. FYI, if you are coming from the east, it kind of sneaks up on you, so...look for the Dairy Queen sign. It's on a busy road so turn around and come back if you need too. We almost got ran over by a semi. Nice selection of muffins, etc to go with the coffee. Nice outside area to sit and relax.More

They roast their beans themselves over here. And while at work they make a really good espresso. Since I like my espresso in a glass or porcelain cup (no cartons please), they found 2 and filled them with a beautiful espresso including a nice crema...layer. The chocolate covered beans (for sale) teamed well with the espresso. Excellent advice on things to do as well!More

We were staying the area and I wanted some fresh coffee beans for the week. The person working the store quizzed me about my preferences while preparing to make a recommendation. The coffee was exactly as described and well worth the stop.

We stop by here nearly every time we go up to or near Mt. Hood for hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing or just to see the sights. It's a little hard to see but really worth the effort. The staff is friendly and helpful and the coffee...is always good. This is not a green machine so don't expect your drink in 30 seconds. Their espresso machine is no computerized. Instead, place your order and look around a bit. Recognize that this is a more rustic and well-loved shop than any in a corporate chain. Relax. (PS, I'm not an anti-Starbucks guy. I have an account with them and get their Pike Place or cold brew quite often.)More
