"Clean" is usually one of those overused terms referring to fresh, purely prepared food, but it fits here. The cuisine is simply but lovingly prepared, low on sodium and soy, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and bright flavors. I tried an amazing dry fried Sichuan style green bean dish, in a bright garlic-pepper sauce with just a hint of... More

I've been coming here for years!!! I order it on delivered dish if I'm not in the mood to go out... always good! Lots of gluten free options (If only the Mushu pork & hot & sour soup could be made gluten-free!) they use organic quality meats, seafood, veggies etc. Service is OK... not super personable or friendly. Best hot... More

Just met a business partner there for lunch there this past week. I ordered bbq pork chow mein and Sungari fried rice (my favorite) and my associate ordered the Kung Pao chicken. All three entrees were fabulous and big portions (leftovers for dinner that night so not sure why a review said small dishes). Started out with hot and sour... More

I was in the area and ordered 6 dishes to go, total of $95 ! I had been to plenty of high end restaurants with ocean views to have high prices like them. But I paid for the view on top of good food & service. However charging $19.99 for an order of small stir fried vegetables dish is outrageous... More

Shared a birthday lunch here today with a dear friend. The perfect place for good conversation over good food. Lots of gluten-free offerings and a good beverage selection. We had the dry sauteed stringbeans (enough to write home about right there) along with the Sungari fried rice, some kung pao chicken and the pork with black bean sauce. All were... More

We ordered 6 dishes. Food arrived quickly and with friendly service. However, all dishes lacked seasoning and flavor. We asked for both hot sauce and soy sauce and even with generous portions of both, the food was not good. Don't know what happened; perhaps a bad night in the kitchen.

The Happy Hour menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. The dishes are small plates, but enough for 4 to share. We ordered about 8 dishes and weren't disappointed by any. The sauteed string beans were very good, spring rolls, pepper shrimp (only 4 shrimp...could have been more, but it was a HH small plate). Wine and beer selection was... More

Dropped in for lunch. A quiet serene place with very fresh food but little spice. My shrimp dish with snow peas was rather bland. I should have tried something with some spice.

My girlfriend and I had just flown into Portland and many other places were closed if not closing on Christmas Day. We went to Seres and they were fully booked but a couple canceled and we got a table and it was amazing. The food was great and came quicker than expected. I ordered the chicken, mushrooms, and rice and... More

Description
Seres Restaurant, formally Sungari Pearl is located in the Pearl District and has been serving the greater Portland area since 2003. Seres Restaurant features a modern Chinese menu with emphasis on purity. In addition to using organic produce whenever possible, Seres' dishes feature local ingredients such as Oregon's Painted Hills Natural Beef, local produce and beancurd from Portland's own OTA Tofu Company. No MSG or artificial additives are added to our dishes.
Essentially, you will still find every traditional long-loved Chinese food like fried rice, potstickers or Kung Pao chicken at Seres, however with a lightness and purity that are not only delicious but important.
