Great ambience, impressive wine selections and most of all unique menu with a Asian Flare. Vegetarians try the Kimchi fried rice or the apple curry!

An excellent place to see views of downtown Portland and have a drink. Friendly staff and plenty of space add to the appeal. We did not eat but saw apps and sushi served to other customers. They also offer a full service restaurant inside.

The service, the view but especially the food was absolutely the best so far in Portland and that is not taking anything away from the others. A must if you are in Portland.

I went with two lifelong girlfriends to celebrate our 60th birthdays, and it turned out to be the perfect, festive, restaurant for it. It chanced to be a hot, sunny day, and we sat outside on the rooftop of what used to be the Macy's,...More

This place is located on the 15th floor of The Nines Hotel. Great views of the city. This place has some tasty dishes serving modern sweet and spicy Asian. I had the Crispy Pork belly with pickled cherries.

Have been there a few times and always had good food and staff to navigate the menu. The menu is Asian inspired. I'm not a sushi fan and yet have always found more items I want to order than I could ever possibly consume. Best...More

I just found out this place is a chain. Ate here for a work event and tried pretty much everything on the menu. I live in Portland, and as a result I'm an unapologetic food (and wine) snob. The food here is extremely salty, and...More

Departure Restaurant is located atop the Nines Hotel and offers modern Asian cuisine in a sleek, cosmopolitan setting with two outdoor decks and stunning views of the city, mountains and river. Chef de Cuisine Gregory Gourdet creates traditional Asian preparations with Northwest ingredients in signature dishes such as the restaurant’s grilled kushiyaki selections, Indonesian spiced chicken and maguro karai honey sushi rolls. Departure’s bar showcases exotic cocktails, a global wine list and the city’s largest sake list. The saké and shochu list is one of the largest in the city and represents many hand-crafted, artisan producers. Departure boasts the design skills of Jeff Kovel of Skylab Architecture, one of Portland’s leading architectural firms. The overall design of the 9,000 square-foot space added a new full-level 15th floor to the original 1908 Meier & Frank building and two new rooftop patios with views overlooking downtown Portland, the Willamette River, Mt .Hood and Mount St. Helens. The design elements play off the notion of an urban escape.
