Neat place, nice people, many different mouth-watering foods to ponder, well-known and well regarded in Douglas County, a destination restaurant for folk many miles away, and for a good reason. Not thought of as a cheap place to eat, but the best half-order of biscuits...and gravy I've ever had and a really good cup of gourmet coffee cost $6! The gravy tasted like sausage and had nice chunks of sausage in it. As I was leaving, the waitress volunteered a travel cup for the coffee I hadn't finished. How often will you see that?More

UPDATE: Rumor is... AND I hope it is not true, but sadly I was told today, that Tolly's will be closing its doors this Sunday 11/10/2019. The 1st wave of rumors stated Tolly's would close this month, but the word today is the closing date...will be the end of the week. Again I hope the rumors are wrong, BUT for everyone who loves Tolly's there may only be a handful of days left to visit everyone's favorite restaurant one last time. So make your plans now to say farewell to Oakland's best loved establishment. [Below is my old review of this legendary, beautiful and historic restaurant. Tolly's opened in 1968- this beautiful restaurant has real historic charm. Located in Oakland, Oregon it has served family's for literally over half a century. Tolly's has an amazing menu for every meal of the day with fantastic breakfasts, really satisfying lunches, and superb fine dining in the evenings. While I am a fan of the deli sandwiches- vegitarian friends rave about the salads. After every meal Tolly's had the perfect desserts. One side is like an old fashioned soda shop complete with malts and many super good flavors of ice cream. And if that's not enough there's the Tolly's nationally famous soecuality- their pies! which are really the best ever!!! Also the twin side of Tolly's is an amazing old Western century old bar with an excellent selection of liquors and extremely good beers on tap- with some rare specialty brews. On the weekends this bar often entertains with music from musician bands or the tuned played on the grand piano. Tolly's is terrific any time of day from back to front and top to bottom (there are like 4 dining rooms- 2 upstairs, and the soda fountain side and the frontier bar side).More

We were on our way back from OSF and stopped at Tolly’s for lunch. The kid’s menu has some nice choices. Two of us had an open faced sandwich that isn’t on the e-menu - avocado, mozzarella, tomato and arugula on a slice of toasted...bread. Aside from needing to experiment on whether to use hands or fork, these were a hit. One had the Blacksmithys grilled cheese which the menu calls a triple decker. What isn’t clear is that triple means three slices of bread We also ordered a grilled cheese with cup of fruit off the children’s menu and a double scoop of Umpqua vanilla cream to go (they make a wonderful creamy ice cream. Our only negative comments related to the grilled cheese sandwiches. The bread on both seemed to be totally saturated with butter as if they had been fried in a puddle of it. This resulted in a pretty greasy sandwich.More
