Our favorite local Clackamas place for breakfast is Dean’s, but if we happen to be in Milwaukie before mid-afternoon we’ll choose to go to Gramma’s. Both places have limited hours, so plan on elsewhere for dinner. Dean’s closes at 3pm. Gramma’s at 2; we goofed...once arriving at 2:45 thinking they closed at 3 also.
Gramma’s puts out a nice-sized plate of vittles for a decent price. And it’s all cooked as if Gramma herself was the chef (and for all I know she may be). The bacon and other meats are superb, perhaps like at Dean’s procured from a high quality Portland area butcher, not some high volume, large commercial company. Their “southern” style white gravy is perfection on biscuits or anything else offered.
There may be a wait time at popular hours, but the place is big enough to get you seated sans much delay. The menu is simple but thorough enough to cover anyone’s wants and the service is efficient, attentive, and friendly. The ambience is great too. The parking is a bit limited; there’s room in an adjoining lot, but it may be private to other businesses, so if necessary watch for any warning signage.More
