Very disappointed, not in the food, but how the management handled a very unsettling incident. My wife and I are retired and traveling across the country, spending 4 days in Medford. Have never given a poor rating. But my wife had a yellow bowl salad...and found in her mouth a piece of ceramic broken from what we think a mug, around a half inch triangle piece. She was scared that she could have broken a crown or tooth if she had bitten down. The waitress, very apologetic, took the piece to show the manager, and that was it. My wife even had to ask if she could get another salad. No manager apology, which would have been all we needed to hear. But since we heard nothing from the manager or even the thought that the price of the salad would be taken off the bill, therefore this review. We are staying in a hotel right next door for 4 nights and thought it would be nice to just go there each night. Not now!More
Elmers has been an important restaurant in Medford forever! Generations of Oregonians have graced this fun restaurant - for good reason. It is Solid and predictable. Locals seek one another out and strangers stand out. Big breakfast crowd.
Went to Elmer's on a Wednesday morning after taking my car in for service at Lithia Honda. There were many parties of two having breakfast but it was not overly busy. We were seated in a booth and then waited for our server to return....Seems there was an issue in the kitchen that she had to deal with for close to 10-minutes. We ordered the Farmers omelet and potato pancake breakfasts. My omelet was tasty with a good amount of sausage; the sausage gravy was thick and bland. The potato pancakes were good but lacking in the ingredients listed in the menu. Portions are generous and a pretty good value.More
It was the closest sit down restaurant to the hotel I was staying at as I got stuck in Medford for the night. Friendly staff. I had the seafood platter, was okay, guess I should have ordered something else.
This is a touch one to review. The place is welcoming and spacious with a homey, family feel to it. They seated us next to a beautiful roaring fireplace, which would have been wonderful if it wasn't 80 degrees outside. After sitting there for about...five minutes, we requested they move us and they did so graciously and without any fuss. The menu was very good and the prices reasonable. The server was very friendly but didn't know the kinds of beer they served. When she came back with a list and we ordered, twice she returned to tell us they were out of our choices. We finally settled on our third choice which came out when we were almost done with the meal. In most quality places, they would have comped the beer but that was not the case here. The food was very tasty and the portions were nice. Unfortunately, they only had one dessert. Pretty odd in our estimation. It's an okay place but could be so much better.More
Since I had to skip the unappetizing breakfast fare offered at my hotel, I thought I try Elmer's next door. I always believe it's hard to screw up basic breakfast if your serve it everyday, but I find out it's possible. So this choice at...Elmer's was worse, had the Rancher's breakfast...utensils didn't look clean, got another set, eggs was ok, way too runny, burnt black sausages, greasy bacon...would not ever be back and I do not recommend. Place looks tired. Only good - Staff were warm and friendly though.More
I was greeted courteously, promptly, and seated within minutes. Coffee was prompt, hot and fresh. Menu selections, sides and alternatives were easy to read and spot.
I had a small stack of pancakes, two eggs over easy, hash brown potatoes and two bacon. ALL were...hot, fresh, and cooked as ordered! You know sometimes when you tell your server how you want something prepared for you and it comes to you differently? Not so here! The server really listened to my concerns of not salting my potatoes and cooking them throughout the "patty".
Great place to eat! And I will come back again real soon!!More
