Great stop for a beer and a meal. Both very good and atmosphere is perfect. It was mid day on Sunday so we had the brunch menu. The “bretzel” was excellent (as pictured). Enough for at least 2 maybe 3 people. Definitely worth a stop.
The first time I went to this restaurant, I fell in love. We went back several times. We have taken friends and family and every time it was fantastic. Then, there was this time. I had pulled pork and my husband had the meal with...pulled pork, chicken, and sausage. The pulled pork was totally different. It had the consistency of canned dog food. My husband's pork and the chicken were the same. We mentioned it to the waitress and she went and checked on it with someone. She said they recently started cutting it differently. It just totally changed the taste. I ate a couple of small bites of mine mixed with the potatoes. But, I just didn't like it. I loved it before. My husband didn't have his. She offered him a box and we took his home to give it to the dog. The bacon in the green beans was also overcooked, but my potatoes were delicious. My husband loved his sausage and macaroni and cheese. We also had an appetizer and it was pretty good. I guess I'm disappointed that our bill was as high as it was when the main part of the dish was mostly uneaten. I did not take my dish home to the dog because I had put sauce on it. We were offered a replacement, but at that point, we'd been there a while and after a long day we were ready to just go home. We stopped and got some take-out on the way home since we were both a little hungry.More
We stopped here for dinner and to taste their beer. We were fortunate to get a table in the bar area as the regular restaurant was booked with reservations. The beer choices were good and the flavor of the beer was tasty. The brisket was...delicious! The staff was very friendly. Food was served hot and fast.More
My family stayed in town for a night and I found this hotel on TripAdvisor and within walking distance from our hotel. I ordered food thirty minutes before close . The food was beyond awesome especially the bbq brisket, beans, mac n cheese and the...cheese burgers. The food was done quickly and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant has a great kids Menu that my kids approved of . I am pretty picky about my bbq and this was one of the best I’ve had! 5 star!More
This is one of the nicest restaurants in Mount Vernon from the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the restaurant to the delicious food. We had the fish and chips and buffalo smoked chicken. I also sampled two of the house brews which were...excellent. Definitely will be back.More
Food was outstanding! However the Server was not! We wanted to order Drinks first, Then spend sometime looking over the menu, The server said we needed to order the food " NOW" . When I asked why, I was told because she would have to..."The Pub to get our drinks. And she needed to place our food order first! The when the food showed up , She was passing it across the table, Rather than serving it! Since there was four of us, I'm Not crazy about my plate being touched by 3 other people! Staff needs training. However I would go back!More
Brisket was excellent! We were passing through Mt Vernon, and decided to try Stein Brewing. Husband and I had brisket dinner I had green beans and cole slaw, he had fries and green beans. Very tender meat. We will be back!
We were in Mount Vernon for Bernie's hair-do appointment. Nicole the hairdresser recommended Stein Brewing Co to us - so - in for a penny - in for a pound - we drove to S Main St and quickly and easily found a close parking...spot outside. The building (once you find the actual entrance door!) (and it's worth the effort) is easily one of the most inviting and atmospheric places to dine in and enhances the whole dining experience considerably. Now we were there on a mid Wednesday afternoon (4pm) and accordingly the place was not packed but still had a brisk coming and going of customers - always a good sign at off-peak times. We were greeted on entry in a warm and welcoming way - a great start to any dining experience. Now: Down to Brass Tacks: The meal!: The menu is full and pleasantly wide-ranging including veggie options. The price range is within acceptable range - we both agreed that our chosen meals were very good value for money. Our server Shandalier was friendly and efficient - she took our order quickly and offered suggestions for options whilst answering our questions clearly. We chose the fish and chips meal which came with tartar sauce and a home made coleslaw - Tomato sauce was supplied and I also requested vinegar. The meal came quickly and was piping hot! - a good omen for the meal itself. The picture attached is from their website as in my eagerness to do serious battle with the very tasty items - I had forgotten to take a snap of the meal before starting on the demolition :D The taste and quality of the meal was excellent - absolutely no down marking there The fish beer-batter (pilsner) was light - crispy and cooked to perfection. The home-made coleslaw was tasty as was the tartar sauce. The portion sizes for all items were generous indeed. We both agreed that it was one of the very best fish and chip meals that we had had anywhere. The unsweetened iced tea was light and refreshing. Value for money?: Really at $18 per meal (including the iced tea) - this represented excellent value for money. Including tax and tip we paid only $45.79 for two of what was a very high quality and delicious meal - very well cooked and presented indeed. The staff: We have already commented on the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The level of customer care was very high - full marks to everyone! In summary: An unplanned and unknown visit that led us to a top-quality and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We look forward to a return soon!!!! Our recommendation: Visit Stein Brewing Co soonest!More
This is our 3rd time visiting Stein and each time it has been about the same average quality. Certain menu items are good (brisket, wings) but others simply just look good on the plate...Mac n cheese is always dry not creamy like it should be...and the food is never ever hot---it is simply warm. Even the French onion soup. When we dined last they were out of key menu items such as brisket. We love that Mt. Vernon has another local joint but this one pales in comparison to similar close by places.More
