We went on a Sunday evening. A cozy fire was lit and nice atmosphere. Hardly any customers, and the waitress was very attentive. We had beef stew and dumplings, a big portion, also lamb shank with tempura prawns and crab claws to start, not the best I've had but passable.

I have been here on many occasions over the years for dinner and lunch and throughout the seasons. I have even been here on and off with previous owners and so have seen various changes and some really welcomed. But it’s always a shame when the day comes be it lunch or dinner weekday or weekend when the kitchen and... More

I called in today for a lunch-time snack - I have been many times before, over the years, to this delightful country pub, and been variously delighted or disappointed, depending upon the incumbent operators. The present owners seem to have got it right today, with tasty and generous food, and prompt courteous service. I shall certainly test-drive it again soon.

Visited for the first time with these owners. Friendly welcome and service by all staff. Enjoyed very much a light lunch and impressed enough to make a return visit. Food freshly cooked and delicious, no fault could be made at all, only praise.

Once vowed never to return but elderly friend asked us to take her. Most of food very tasty, well presented and generous portions though friend had soggy undercooked chips but our liver and bacon and crab salad delicious, Owner/manager a lovely charismatic man who obviously cared about the place but our Young blonde haired waitress could do with personality transplant,... Popped in whilst at Bailiffscourt hotel for a meal. Warm and friendly welcome and a really nice vibe to the pub. Nice table and decent choice on the menu. My wife had chicken and bacon pie, which arrived quickly and she really enjoyed. I ordered a ranch burger without cheese (hate cheese....evil stuff) and with an additional burger (a double... More

Called here for lunch. Had a prawn and crab sandwich which was terrible. Cold, stale bread which was bizarrely lightly toasted. A few random crisps chucked in the middle. Certainly not worth 9.90!

We visited this inn when staying in Avisford (near Arundel) where a pub without food in Barnham recommended to try, which we did. The signage on the main road is not very good but we found the inn at the end of Climping Street and were impressed with the quality and quantity of food served. The staff were very pleasant... We visited on Sept 1st and decided we would give the Sunday carvery a try and so returned on 11th. The carvery was good though why it is advertised as being available from 12 – 4 is a mystery since as others have mentioned it is more like 12.45 before it is ready. While there on the 11th we booked... More

Thank you for your comments, We try to get the carvery out as soon as possible on a sunday, we do not normally have anyone ready to eat until 12.30. As for the table booking I was unaware of this and will be carrying out a full investigation and repramanding the person responsible, i agree that was totaly ignorant and... More
