After many years away from The Blue Anchor, I stopped in for a post work drink with several friends last Friday. I recall that the last time I went in, the kitchen wasn't up and running and the outside was looking very tired and uninviting, with may have contributed to the long period of time that passed between visits. The... More

I was out on a short jog with one of my friends when I ran past this pub. I am pregnant and was desperate for the toilet. We where planning on stopping on the way back for a drink anyway. I ran in and I could not see a staff member available so ran straight to the door of the... More

My wife and I visited the Blue Anchor for the second time in a few weeks after having had a tasty bowl of soup there on the first occasion. This time we went back for a drink and a full Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. We ate indoors in the main bar area in basic but pleasant surroundings. All... More

Popped in to watch the 6 nations and decided to get one of the special 6 nations burgers - a very good decision! A big portion but the quantity did not mean a compromise on quality - we will be back!

Ate here, as I was staying nearby. Solid beer choices and food (burger) was pretty good. Would eat here again, if in the area for pub food.

Or two.. just popped in for a quick one or 2 whilst waiting for a taxi. Some lovely ales from Pilgrim Brewery a few doors down. And quite friendly service too.

I found this place through camra good beer guide on one of our normal Wednesday afternoon jaunts and I have to say that the beer was on point, and a decent price, we all had the hogsback T.E.A. We decide to wait til the kitchen opened for a bite to eat as we all found the specials board very tempting... More

We recently attended the Tasting Evening at the Blue Anchor and experienced an exceptional selection of dishes. Tasting 5 dishes in total (1 starter, 3 mains and 1 dessert) we felt totally spoilt. The flavours were bold yet well thought out. The flavour matching had really been tried and tested. The best dish for me was a pan fried sea... More
