We had lunch with some long-standing friends, who had it recommended to them by the holiday cottage some miles away, where they were staying. There was a good choice of menu, service was courteous and efficient, all in a delightful setting in a conservatory with a pleasant atmosphere. There are outside tables and small huts which can be opened for... More

We were amazed to find such a delightful restaurant and after a long walk through the woodlands along what was an old railway track. This was just the very place we needed to rest a while and drink a wonderful coffee and food. The host was wonderful in welcoming and talking to us about the area and the history of... More

What a gorgeous lovely country café. We stopped for a drink in the summer house which we loved and thought was so unique and beautiful. We had come from a long walk visiting the chained oak tree . we have booked to go back there next year for lunch after our visit to Alton Towers. Lovely staff and very friendly... More

I have visited the ramblers a few times now and it never lets me down! I don't live far away so I often walk my dog to the dimmingsdale woods as it's such a beautiful walk and the ramblers is such a perfect place to eat! The food is amazing and the portion sizes very good, I opted for the... More

My husband and I pop in regularly after a big walk around Dimmingsdale, it's a lovely retreat in a picturesque location, we sat in the garden and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, I would recommend highly.

What a great find - we visited here for lunch - it is such a lovely little restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. I had a delicious Plowman's Lunch. Sadly, I had no room for dessert because the Lemon Meringue looked amazing!!! Maybe next time though!!!

Upon arriving at the Ramblers Retreat I was impressed by the cafe's beautiful aesthetic of ponds, gardens and outdoor seating scattered under umbrellas and inside cute huts. The interiors were also charming with quiet classical music playing in the background to complete the whole country dining feel. The service was brilliant the gentleman running the floor was friendly and greeted... More

We visited at lunch time following a long walk. Lovely welcome and great location. Good choice on the menu and really good value. We went for pie of the day which was amazing. Location superb and nice cost tables in or out. Will go again.

It's the sound of the fountain that (in my opinion) gives this country cafe/bistro a charm all of its own. Never mind the fact that it is located in midst of my favourite childhood haunt, or that the staff are polite and attentive, or that the food and drink are of excellent quality/reasonably priced. The place has an ambience I've... More
