Lack lustre attitude. Inspiring menu, but no atmosphere. Decor is very outdated and tired looking. A shame as I think with just a little effort it could be a very nice place to dine.

Disregard any low reviews of this place, it is an absolute gem and I can't recommend it highly enough! Me and my partner had dinner here last week and it was great. Food carefully prepared and friendly waiting staff.

We were all looking forward to visiting what sounded like a lovely little italian restaurant, but sadly we were disappointed. Our pre drinks in 'front room' were excellent with very friendly welcome. But it would have been nice to have olives/crisps to accompany our drinks. Decor is tired and very 80s with dried flower arrangements, old light shades, colourful carpets,... More

It is always disappointing to learn people were disappointed with their evening with us, but much more so when their reasons for being disappointed are so ill appointed. Firstly, we are left uncertain as to why you wrote 'front room' in quotation marks, the bar is literally the front room, with no other levels requiring such punctuation. We appreciate the... More

We visited La Bisalta back in June and had some very nice food. We both ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and shared some Garlic Bread on the side. Unlike you find in most restaurants purporting to be Italian, the Carbonara here is genuine (not drowning in cream) and was 100% to my taste. The ham used in the dish was also... More

I had a wonderful meal at La Bisalta celebrating my 70th birthday with friends. We were lucky that is was warm enough to sit out on the terrace whilst we chose from the menu and specials. As the evening cooled we moved to the very welcoming bar and were called to our table when our starters were ready. 6 freshly... More

A complete gem of a restaurant, consistently excellent food from Luigi and always friendly and personal service from Susan. I would highly recommend to anybody who gets the opportunity to eat here, it really is an experience as opposed to just a meal. No matter what you pick from the menu (gorgonzola avocado to start is a personal favourite), you... More

As soon as you enter La Bisalta you get a warm welcome and you can settle back in the 'welcome area' to sit and make your menu selection. The menu choices are very good and offer a range of traditional Italian dishes. We both went for the stuffed mushroom starter,an absolutely great dish. The mains,my wife went for the lamb... More

By complete luck my friends and I stopped at this charming Italian restaurant from our way from Stourhead Garden to Bath. We got wonderful and original Italian food which left us satisfied and almost eager for more of the Italian food which was presented to us. The first mouthful was enough to make us in no doubt that we would... More

Opened in 1993, the Italian restaurant, La Bisalta, named after the mountain range that dwarfs the hometown of the owner and chef Luigi Violino, is situated in the heart of Frome. Surrounded by mature trees, the setting of La Bisalta feels almost rural. Easily identifiable by its covered canvas entrance and ivy clad upper storey, this genuine Italian restaurant offers a wide range of classic dishes. All dishes are cooked to order with fresh local ingredients by chef Luigi, who together with his wife Susan, has justifiably earned a far reaching reputation for excellent food and friendly service.
