Food was rubbish and quite frankly an embarrassment. Overpriced and masquerading as some sort of gastro pub experience. My burger and chips was about GBP18 and tasted like the sort of frozen rubbish I ate at uni due to a lack of money. Needless to...More

We are not a Gastro Pub James and nowhere do we make that claim. We are a normal Pub set in an extraordinary Park Like setting by The Canal that serves drink, food and hospitality. I am sorry you came away with such a hostile...More

We live locally and my husband and I visit The Jack Mytton regularly. A beautiful building in a fabulous location but I think we will take some persuading to order food when we visit again. We have had some very good and some not so...More

Err, yes, we do remember. If we are going to have red faces publicly, you left out that a couple with an almost identical rhyming name to yours booked for a time just before you arrived. Our team, thinking they were you sat them on...More

This is the fourth time we have visited this establishment, and have failed to eat twice. Arrived too early and were asked to wait, which was ok. Sat in the glorious sunshine. Wandered around the garden. Spoke to some nice canal boat travellers. Had a...More

Booked in by a family member so had no idea what to expect. Pleasantly surprised on arrival with beautiful views of the fields and canals. Building was aesthetically pleasing too. Very quiet when we arrived. Ordered drinks and were told about the drinks they offered,...More

Lovely willow trees and a large grassy park like setting are very welcoming - this pub is well suited for groups of all sizes. It was quite a challenge for our husbands to order our gin and tonics, so many varieties. We thought the staff...More

I appreciate your special mentions for our staff, friendliness, Park Like setting ( a lovely description I will use again) and gins. Visitors can eat outdoors in the courtyard or on the grassy areas by the Canal and we have recently bought more outdoor benches...More

Booked a table for four of us for lunch on a Thursday. When we got there (12.30) the place was deserted. Doors were locked- not a soul around. Had to go and find somewhere else to eat. Not impressed.More

I would like to be in touch with you about this as it sounds like we messed up twice and you are owed a massive apology - one by taking your booking for a time we are advertised as closed and second for not picking...More

Unless you like hamburgers then avoid this place. Limited menu cooked by cooks not chefs and really not very good value. Why serve one of those "pies" in a ceramic pot with a bit of puff pastry on the top - for 16 quid? Meat...More

I see about half of your reviews rate places you visit average to terrible so at least you rated us better than Air Canada, the Grand Canyon and Buckingham Palace and no worse than the Eiffel Tower. PS . Our Growling Bear Steak Pie is...More

I first went to Mad Jacks on a cold February day when walking down the canal. I was offered a coffee even through the pub was closed. I returned to the pub in May and both dogs were welcomed into the bar where I had...More

I would like to know more about your experience if you could please email me at david@jackmytton.co.uk. Your report stood out for me - while highly critical you were balanced and mentioned a good spot of your experience here with our chips. In all other...More
