Love this place, eat/drink here a few times a month. The Thai food is one of the best I have had in the UK and consistently meets expectations. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Nice charm of being a traditional pub with the added bonus of a Thai restaurant at the back. Live music at the weekends and an all... More

Pros: - Busy vibe - Tasty cocktails - Good food, that was served quickly - Reasonably priced Cons: - Phone constantly ringing (loudly!) near our table. I appreciate that this is a good sign that a high number of take outs are being ordered, but with no music playing to distract us, it did become irritating after a while when... More

Food is nice but expect to pay more than in other pubs serving Thai food (I know a few in London that are cheaper). There is lots of choice on the menu, although I was disappointed not to find a couple of dishes I'd enjoyed in Thailand. The tom ka gai soup (my favourite) was lovely, although the portion is... I used to be a regular here and, having lived in Thailand, I always said this was the closest thing to the taste of Thailand in the UK. However, my last visit was disappointing. My duck was dull and boring, but much worse was the rice - severely overcooked and bland. I did ask for some prik nahm plah to... More

The range of food on offer was extensive so a very good menu. I had 3 courses with beer and it came to about £35. Good value. The service was excellent with the timing of the courses spot on. What more could you ask for. The dining area is reasonably isolated from the bar area.

When we walked into the bar we were surprised all the tables were reserved. We were shown to the restaurant at the back where we had on of the set menus which was very good. On leaving the reason for the reserved tables became clear - Quiz Night! But a very enjoyable evening.

I have been to The Rising Sun now five or six times in the last year. The food is always very good with a large selection of authentic Thai cuisine. The staff are very helpful and it is good value for money. I would recommend!

Good service, nice surroundings and food which, while pleasant and cooked by capable chefs, is not quite at 5-star level to justify its price tag. The mixed starter platter was nicely presented, with perhaps too much emphasis on deep-fried pancake-wrapped items, and a curiously dry and tasteless crispy seaweed (probably cooked too long ago). Other than that, it all tasted... More

What a great idea Thai restaurants adjoined to a traditional pub. We popped in on a Wednesday night and the place was rammed always a pretty good sign. I started with the salt and pepper squid (no.13) which was exquisite so light and fluffy and a good size for a starter. For the main course I had the jungle curry... More
