We piled in to this pub on New Year's Day for lunch- two families of 4. As far as i could see there were only two people on duty even though the place was busy , but they were welcoming, friendly and attentive. We felt immediately relaxed. We were served quickly, the food was not only really tasty but the... More

After a wander around Alnwick on a cold Monday morning, this little establishment seemed the perfect spot to provide a respite from the temperature. We were greeted by a friendly bar girl who served us at table, rather than us having to go to the bar as I would've imagined. We were also attended to the resident black labrador puppy,... More

Popped in one evening whilst staying in Annex and we had the Veg Lasagne and Burger washed down with cloudy cider and wine. Food good as was price and would go back again, which is more than I can say for other pub restaurants in Alnwick.

My husband and I took daughter in law and granddaughter for Sunday lunch as had been previously recommended to us. Not impressed!! The veggie lasagne was the only meal that came up to scratch. Husband had roast beef - tough meat, cold plate and seriously undercooked veg , my belly pork roast (with an extra charge to normal roast), despite... More

Booked late due to meeting. Room was described as a double with en suite. But it would have been better with a single bed because there was hardly any room to move. The en suite was small with a small shower cubicle and the wash basin the smallest I've ever seen. The room smelt musty. On the plus side the... More

Me and my girlfriend went here on a Sunday for a few drinks, and had a brilliant time, staying much longer than we'd originally planned. The bar staff were some of the friendliest and helpful bar staff we've ever encountered, remembering our previous orders and asking if we want the 'same again?' (which very rarely happens anywhere else). The service... More

We stayed for one night in this pub, we wanted to stay 2 but it was booked up...and for good reason. The staff were really friendly, helpful and the atmosphere in the pub was great. We didn't eat here but the breakfast was fantastic. The location was incredible as you could see the castle through the window! The hallway could... More

A pleasant dining experience. The pub decor could do with a revamp but the food etc were fine, and I was able to watch England winning a cricket 1 dayer while eating.
