I've never been disappointed with a meal at Mainsgill, even though the place is always buzzing. The home-grown produce is always tasty, and particularly the apple and raspberry pie with fresh cream, mmmmm! Not a particularly easy exit right onto the A66 but well worth a visit.

Most Farm Shops over price themselves but Mainsgill doesn't. we went on the 12th Jan 2017 for my Mums birthday lunch. Mum and I had a huge fruit scone, lashings of cream which we could only manage half of, butter, jam and fresh strawberries along with a pot of tea - for under £5.00 each. the place is beautifully kept,... Both the tearoom and farm shop are well worth a visit. Tearoom food was excellent although the menu is limited. Service was friendly and efficient. The cake and dessert options are a highlight. The farm shop and gift shop are both excellent. Lots of variety and great range.

Visited today, being bank holiday it was busy but their ordering and service system didn't do them any favours. A few simple tweaks would make for a more efficient customer experience. People only wanting cakes and drinks should be able to order at a separate point and not have to queue with those ordering hot food, this would have prevented... More

Stopped for breakfast whilst travelling on A66 to Lake District one grey December morning. Tasty farm reared food at prices which reflect its quality. Restaurant well laid out with friendly and efficient service. Shop itself is an emporium of farm produce and products which are designed to fit a countryside lifestyle. Good experience- recommend.

We often visit Mainsgill as it lies between ourselves and the in-laws and is a good mid-point to meet. We often have to wait in a queue for some time before ordering and finding a table, though staff will find a table quickly for my wife's elderly Nanna. Food at Mainsgill is good and wholesome, whether soup and bread or... More

Called in to the shop for some Christmas goodies and wasn't disappointed, came away with far too much food. Decided to have some breakfast while we were there, the service was fast and friendly and the food was good, especially the bacon which was so good I bought some from the shop. Definitely worth a visit.

We called in for a wander and came out with a bag full of food. We went upstairs first and there are some lovely items for the home to buy plus ladies mens and children's clothes. Downstairs is all locally produced food. A large delicatessen selling meats and cheeses. The veg stall was vibrant with all in season veg. Didn't... More

We often visit Mainsgill for a bacon sandwich and a cake, the food is always lovely! They have a seating area outside for people to sit with dogs & have a children's play area and animals to look at. The farmshop sells lots of meats, organic vegetables and fruit as well as local products like jams, ice cream, cakes etc.... More
