La Zouch is an unpretentious cosy little restaurant, tea room and Alladin's cave of fine wine and whisky. If you are expecting fashionable metallic grey furnishings and trendy fusion food, then perhaps this is not the place for you. What it does offer is excellent home-cooked food and astonishingly good wine all at a reasonable price; the glass of sauvignon... More

Step back in time with this unique place. We had tea and scones. The place may seem old fashioned but it is absolutely spotlessly clean....all the whisky bottles, everything. Thank you.

Just popped in with my wife and her cousin for afternoon tea. Geoff and his wife were their usual chatty helpful selves. I always enjoy chatting with someone who has an in depth knowledge of his subject. Geoff's encyclopedic knowledge of wines and spirits is inspirational, his stock of malt whisky is Legion and he also stocks some of the... More

Reasonable food but nothing really of of this world. For what it is worth it is way over priced. Some nice staff but not all. Upstairs rooms getting really in need of some attention. The owners think it is better than it is. I'm sure in the past it was very nice but it needs a new approach to bring... More

From the moment you walked in where you got the impression you were an imposition, to the eyelash in the hot chocolate, to the toastie on white bread when brown was asked for, due to an intolerance (and told 'we only do brown') to listening to a female' Basil' in the kitchen moaning about us! It wasn't what I call... More

My wife and I were looking forward to Sunday lunch. I have lived around Ashby for 30 years and had never been here before. On entering, the bar area was spotless but uninviting. It did not feel to us like the sort of bar you would like to loiter around prior to eating. Ordered lamb roast dinner and a "compote"... More

Having read the reviews on trip advisor decided to venture to the La Zouch on Saturday night. Firstly a positive; from outside it looks delightful and fits in well with the general Ashby feel. Unfortunately, the facade doesn't last long and once inside alarm bells began to ring.... There is a hint of mustiness in the air and visitors are... More

Home cooked and a la carte food, vast selection of wines spirits and beers. Very welcoming, no rush, no push atmosphere. Go there and take your time to eat and relax.

Went here for my husband's 40th birthday. A great choice. Superb fine dining menu with knowledgable staff when ordering wine. Made to feel very welcome and nothing too much trouble.

We stopped here for tea and cakes and were not disappointed. The tea arrived in a proper pot, big enough to give everyone in our party second and third cups. Toasted tea cake and scones with jam were home-made and delicious. It felt like everyone's dream of an old-fashioned tea-shop but with a 21st century acknowledgment of the need to... More
