Often come along for lunch and always have extremely helpful pleasant staff but today we brought our friends - sat outside in the sunshine - after lunch our plates were not collected despite staff walking past - so I asked a tall waiter could he please take our plates he replied 'I will' aggressively - why speak to us like... I frequently use The Carpenters as an overnight stay. The rooms are always reasonably priced well equipped modern and comfortable. Although the wifi is hit and miss The pub offers an excellent menu for dinner and breakfast. This definitely up market good value gastro pub food. Always tasty and beautifully presented Great bar with an excellent selection and excellent staff... More

Went to the Carpenters Arms for a birthday meal with some friends. Unfortunately, my friend and I who had the same main course had a bad stomach that night and spent the whole night and the following morning on the toilet with a runny tummy. Called the pub in the morning to let them know what happened. They took my... More

We had several meals in the restaurant when were staying at the Carpenters Arms. Breakfast is quite good. Nice selection and all freshly prepared. The fresh pastries and yogurt with fruit compote are personal favourites. Lunch isn't their best meal. Lots of doorstop style sandwiches which were a bit large. The Caesar salad was quite good. The dinner menu has... More

We have eaten at the Carpenters several times and on most occasions have come away happy with the food. The plough man's and Sunday roast are pretty good . However on our last visit, I thought I would go for the Carpenters Burger. At £12.50 plus 75p for cheese I was expecting something special. Far from it, it was awful.... More

Booked a table for four on Sunday afternoon. Table not ready for half hour but not a problem as the weather was nice. Bar staff were surly but just ignored this to enjoy our time. Had to get our own menus and order at the bar, food was prompt if not uninspiring. Had to order desert again at the bar.... More

We have been to the Carpenters a good few times and the food is always great but unfortunately the service from behind the bar (not the waiting staff ) is very average, The attitude is that they come first and not a care for the customer . Shame as its a great pub spoiled by a bad atmosphere from them... More

The carpenters arms is a great place for a stopover and a good place to eat in the evening. The restaurant and menu is quite nice as is there Steak and Ale pie. The service is good, rooms very nice and I don't think you will disappointed.

Dear Sir/Madam 4 of us had a nice meal, after the main it was a little slow to clear the table and offer us desert. It Felt like they were relieved after getting all the mains out and lost energy on the last bit. That wouldn't have resulted in a review because it's not that uncommon in nice pub restaurants....
