We had a table for 4 last night, booked ages ago for an important day for the family and my 90 year old Mother-in-Law. We were shown to the covered courtyard rather than the cosy main dining room. The lights were bright, the wall heaters automatically cut out so you have to ask for them to be put back on.... More

Very disappointing in view of reviews. Shown to grotty table with chair seat torn and foam filling spilling out. Very uninteresting and mediocre menu. Dauphinoise potatoes undercooked and lamb shank very obviously a cash and carry purchases. Dessert three scoops of ice cream the first one rammed to the bottom of the bowl covered in stale chocolate brownie topping. A... More

We were recommended so went with high expectations. It was warm in the pub/reception but old in the large vaulted room. Lots of atmosphere though! I thought the food was expensive for the size of portion. Hey, that's a gastro-pub for you I suppose!

The only negative about this Gastro pub which happens to be my local, is that at the weekends you have to book way in advance to get a table - especially as we like to walk up with the dog and there are only a couple of areas in the pub that cater for them- one area which you can't... More

Quick lunch only, but good sandwiches and excellent pint! Friendly service, and the full food menu was interesting. Worth a return visit in the summer.

The food here is pretty good - nothing to write home about and probably overpriced as is most pub grub. However, the staff are friendly and the location and decor/ambience are great. If it's cold and you want to cosy up there is a lovely fire or a room that resembles a grand dining hall, either of which feel appropriate... More

Booked a table for Sunday lunch for 2, table ready when we arrived. Ordered our lunch, which arrived in reasonable time. Food was hot and very nice, staff were very attentive and helpful. The only issues were we were sat in a very tight corner - without enough room to move or eat properly, although the staff did move the... More

We recently visited after a dog walk. There is a lovely conservatory area where you can eat and your dog is allowed in. We had a very tasty steak sandwich and a fish finger sandwich. Good quality food and reasonably priced.

Hi CMS1964 Thank you for leaving a review. We very much welcome dogs here, with all the lovely walks around it would seem unfair not too. We do have areas where dogs aren't allowed, for those customers who aren't such fans. Glad you enjoyed your sandwiches and we look forward to seeing you again soon Kind Regards Jan Webb More

Came here as a party of 5 to celebrate my husband's birthday. Upon being led to our table, one of their waitresses asked if she could get us anything to drink, but no wine list was offered to us. We had to prompt her for one. She then came back with one wine list for the five of us to... More

Hi JumboJas Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear you was disappointed by your visit here. All feedback is useful, I have since stressed to the floor staff the importance of taking a wine list for guests to browse in their own time. Should you wish to discuss this further please do...
