I have been going to the Candlestick for many years and have always enjoyed the pub menu offered. Also it is right in the country and ideal for a pie and a pint. The service has also always been exceptional but today - what a difference....More

Went today for family lunch. Service was extremely slow waited over an hour for food although the restaurant was not very busy, had to wait 15 minutes even for a menu. The menu was very limited and staff indifferent. Won't be going back

Lovely remote country pub serving top class Sunday roasts. If you love French wine, especially from the Bordeaux region, then you must visit. A very fine, and remarkable value, wine list. The wine buyer certainly knows his wine and how to obtain wine at great...More

Tucked away in the most idyllic Hertfordshire countryside it could be the middle of nowhere but is easily accessible. Triple cooked chips were a bit disappointing but on the whole great pub grub and great location

Roast lamb was dreadful tough and tasteless, vegetables good except for leather roast potato. Lovely staff.

I ran into a little trouble.....it slipped my mind that it was mothers day! I managed to get a late afternoon table booking here. They were very accommodating considering my predicament. I had Portobello mushroom with baked goats cheese and salad. Simple but just amazing....More

Hi KMRacing, many thanks for taking the time and trouble to give us such a nice review. When things don't go according to plan people are quick to say so but when everything is as it should be we don't tend to bother so many...More

Meal was rather basic, no bird option for a Sunday roast dinner on menu so mum and I had to settle for Cajun chicken, burnt Yorkshires but was recitified and sister's vegetarian dish was stone cold and that too was rectified. Overall, the staff just...More

After a stressful week visiting our dog at the Royal Veterinary college nearby we thought we'd try and find somewhere dog friendly for lunch when we picked him up on the Saturday. Finding this pub was a real bonus. The atmosphere was cosy and the...More
