shame they had to change this lovely olde worlde pub into a snooty wine bar type place. It was lovely, and cheap too, and they welcomed dogs and had board games, log fire, tea and choccy bars.

Five of us went to The Paddock for a meal last night not realising it had changed hands but not having been to The Boot for years and never having eaten there I can't really give a comparison. I can though tell you that the staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. The service was good and the food was... More

The Paddock has recently changed hands and been refurbished, but it seemed to us a little unfinished on the outside. Certainly, we were welcomed warmly and served well in an informal, friendly manner by the lone waitress. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Drinks wise, there were only two bitters on offer. Prices were reasonable. The Paddock is... More

Had an ok lunch on May Day Bank Holiday, but nothing really special. I was hoping for something more akin to Prime in Chandlers Cross, given the prices; but this place lacks the class and the quality. I ordered the soufflé, but it was runny and underdone after two attempts! I think they need a top quality chef and much... More

The former Boot has had a good sympathetic makeover - love the cow hide seats in the bar area, very Gaucho Grill. The new proprietors are very friendly and welcoming, Nicola and Yan. The menu is short but a choice for all and everything is really fresh, no frozen offerings here. The burger was juicy and flavoursome and well cooked... More

We visited this pub(Paddock) and I was quite disappointed. It was told as a gastro pub but a menu was a poor pub grub. When our friend told about new owners are from Israel( it doesn't mean any good or bad ), I hoped the menu will be infused some Mediterranean touch - but it was as some chain pub... More

We thought we'd give this newly named pub/restaurant a try, as we live locally - and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed absolutely delicious food. I ordered a ham, chicken and leek pie and the pastry was really, really good. The staff were pleasant and friendly and I we will definitely return

Visited this place (now known as The Paddock) on Easter Saturday evening for a meal when visiting family in Bovingdon. A thoroughly disappointing experience which spoilt our evening. Ordered 5 meals. 4 meals arrived but no chicken for our daughter. We waited and waited and then enquired what had happened to her meal. The reason proffered was that they had... More

This pub had recently changed hands. It's been given a new more contemporary look, a new name and offers a more interesting menu (although no vegetarian options) and it will be interesting to see how it does. It could be a competitor to two Brewers if they can offer a warm friendly welcome and great service. Something two Brewers lacks.... More

Now reopened under entirely new management the old-world charm of this traditional country inn has been enhanced by its recent refurbishment. The food on its opening night was delicious and the ambiance was delightful. We were delighted to meet the young chef-proprietor, Yan, as soon as he could spare us a moment from his busy kitchen. The menu and wine... More
