I've been here a few times and have to say it never disappoints! Amazing building, lovely staff and wonderful food! The scones are always fab, I also tried the pie this time which was wonderful! Such a find with this place and you'd be a fool to miss out

A beautiful old rustic cafe with roaring fires and attentive staff who know can tell you about the intriguing history. Very unique place. Lovely scones!

This is right next to the abbey and battlefield and whilst visiting a village enriched with history, it seemed a crime not to eat here. We had a lovely late lunch, Scrumpets:- Crumpets with bacon and cheese on, the only problem is they were so nice, my husband would like his crumpets cooked this way at home now. They had... More

This used to be a lovely place so I'm told which is why we went there. Oh dear. The place was unfriendly, matching the surly staff accompanied by an uninspiring menu.

Well you can't really get a better spot than right outside the battleground of the Battle of Hastings can you but quite often you find that such eateries only go through the motions and rely on easy footfall. Not with The Pilgrim; quaint and with good service and food all at a good price... you really can't go wrong!

We stopped for lunch whilst visiting Battle Abbey and the battlefields , we also had a wander around the old Town of Battle . We had tomato & basil soup followed by a delicious cake for a lovely light lunch.

The tea and scones were awesome. They warm the scone just so and the butter and cream spreads nicely. The service was very attentive especially when you considered how busy it is. We sat in a nice tranquil garden, and if I didn't have other commitments could of stayed a lot longer.

Visited yesterday (07/09/16) for an afternoon Tea. The building is well known to me so I took my husband and a friend there as they love old timber buildings. They were not disappointed and agreed that the place is amazing. However, we then ordered Tea - 2 rounds of sandwiches and 3 fruit scones with cream and jam. They duly... More

Stopped off for coffee before going into the Abbey grounds and sat in the delightful little garden at the front. Went back for lunch after our visit and shared a Hungry Monk ploughmans which consisted of a piece of raised chicken/ham/pork/sausage meat pie, ham, cheese (which had been left off but was brought out as soon as I asked) salad,... After a long journey we were keen to eat and really liked the look of The Pilgrims Rest. Unfortunately it was a dull and rainy day, otherwise we would have chosen to sit in the pretty garden. I have read some of the previous comments and find it difficult to believe that we all visited the same place! None of... More
