J. Gumbo's always serves great food. Try the Bumblebee Stew or the Voodoo Chicken individually or make your meal a combo of the two. There food ranges from mild to spicy, and the meal prices are reasonable.

Don't let the menu board fool you. Nothing on the menu is sweet & mild. I chose red beans and rice because I was told it wasn't spicy. It is! So I went back to the counter to exchange it. How about some macaroni and cheese? Nope. That's on the kid menu. So I didn't eat. They just refunded my... More

I ate here about a year ago. It was lunch time and they were out of jambalaya. What? I settled for something else that was very spicy and kind of odd tasting. Today I gave it another chance. Guess what? Out of jambalaya. For a cajun themed restaurant, this seems ridiculous. It was raining and I did not feel like... More

Ok for what it is I guess but I was a little disappointed. I hoped for a larger menu and a little more authentic food. Went for lunch right at noon and the place was dead; doesn't seem like the kind of place that'll last and I likely won't go back any time soon.

The set up is similar to Chipoltes but with Cajun food. You order your food at the front of the restaurant and they bring your food to you. They let you sample the food before you make your order. Very tasty but a little steep in price.

Must try the bumblebee stew!!! There's a reason it's been a favorite entrée in Gahanna for many years. I also recommend the gumbo which tastes soooooo fantastic. My favorite to go item is a combo of half voodoo chicken and half bumblebee stew. That way I can get great spiciness with a little sweetness.

The service is counter style, you look over the menu on the wall and make your selection. They will allow you to taste any of the entrees prior to purchase. I didn't do that and I'm sorry I didn't. If I had, we would have try something different or leave. I order shrimp etouffee. What a mistake, its missing something,... More

Perhaps one needs to be a Cajun fan to appreciate J Gumbo's. Evidently I am not. Order at the counter. Wait to get your food and seat yourself. The menu is pretty straight-forward - all some sort of gravy/thick soup-like meat over white or brown rice in a large bowl. The staff is friendly and helpful for first-timers such as... More

The food is so flavorful and satisfying. They give you a large amount. The heat is just right. I love the shredded Chicken. It is amazing. Very friendly staff too.

We visited this location for the first time and I must say they did not disappoint. There was a young man and a young lady who greeted us as we walked in. They offered samples and answers to any questions we had when we finally decided they served our bowls with smiles. You can never go wrong with anything that... More
