This was our third visit to Steam since it opened several years ago, but we had not been for three years. It attempts and succeeds at providing an Asian, particularly Japanese flavour. It was good then, now it's superb! Great tastes and great service and staff. For our generation ( pre baby boomers) it is on the expensive side, but... More

The food was phenomenal. You've found the place now just go there already. They have a live oyster bar with all types of Australian oysters. They have a pork belly bao that will change your life. They have special desserts from one night to the next and a passion fruit parfait with honey and fresh honeycomb topped with blueberries was... More

The idea of sharing platers is a great way of trying a variety of different dishes. This was a first experience of Japanese food and were not dissappointed. Having the flight of different Sake was also good as there is a huge flavour variation across the Sake.

Along with the relatively new Del Posto 2409, Steam is the classiest of Rye's restaurants, and it is a survivor in an area of fickle patronage and high turnover. I'm not sure how long Steam has been in Rye, but it must be close to ten years. It's a popular place, and rightly so. The decor is something straight out... More

We were lucky enough to arrive at opening and grab a table. We ordered the oysters straight from the tank, calamari was amazing. By the time we got mains the place was packed so book early. Main was a barramundi cooked to perfection -next time we will try the degustation menu - food this good isn't cheap but well worth... More

Would say Steam would be one of my favourite restaurants on the Peninsula. The food was excellent, the service excellent (the waitress explained the menu and recommended certain dishes) which was extremely helpful. We chose the 7 course banquet (sounds a lot but you share each course.) from the first course of sashimi scallops to the last course of Nasi... More

Great meal, small dishes of the tastiest food. The restaurant is very plain but the food is excellent. We had a great dining experience, went on a Thursday night after it was recommended by the B & B we were staying at (Sunny Side Up). Every dish was memorable, but the best was the Coconut Creme Brulee. We shared all... More
