First visit today for lunch - will not be my last. A lovely village pub where the food and service was excellent. Very clean with a real traditional feel. The food was tasty, fresh, hot, plentiful and very good value - all served with a...smile. We wanted a place to relax, eat, chat and chill and this was perfect. Highly recommended.More
Pub recommend by friend so thought we visit. Sat in garden as nice summer evening and we had taken a friend and her dog. Decided it be better for dog to be outside although dogs are allowed in bar area. On arrival staff took drink...order promptly and gave us menus. I opted for the lasagne, chips & peas which was very tasty. My husband had the steak which he enjoyed.
And our friend who is vegetarian enjoyed her dish. There was actually 4 vegetarian dishes on menu. Staff very polite and friendly and we never waited long for staff to come and take drinks orders all night. Tempted by sweet menu I chose Cherry Trifle cake which was lovely.
We did actually visit again 3 days later and will definitely visit again.
Well worth visit good prices, friendly welcoming staff, good food…. What more do you needMore
Having dined here previously I wasn't expecting to much and wouldn't have chose it myself but it was already booked. What a difference new management make.
A warm friendly pub and more importantly the food was superb! A good selection on the menu and everyone...in our group went away satisfied. Girls on the bar and serving were friendly and attentive which made a refreshing change as the last manager when we visited seemed more interested in chatting to men and cigarette breaks.
Will be back for sureMore
dined here last night been here many times before and always find it good value for the prices,we both had the cod and mozzarella fish cakes off the specials board this came with nice chips peas and salad a real plate full.this is not a...mich/star place but good honest pub food we will be coming back .More
This pub has changed hands since we last ate there. That time the food was dire - and i've had some rubbish in my time. So, on learning of new owners, we thought we would give it another go. Inside hadn't changed much decor-wise, but...it was clean and welcoming. The staff were also pleasant and helpful.
We both ordered different steaks off the reasonable menu. There was plenty on the plate, and everything - ironically, was pretty good, apart from the steaks. Both were overdone, and i would argue that my 'sirloin' was in fact 'rump', also it looked and tasted like it had been done in the oven. It wasn't even the right colour, and tasted of nothing. We also had deserts, which were fine. But, we've had two goes here now, and the food really hasn't improved enough. If the chef cannot cook a steak - which was the main event, its a poor show.More
We had a lovely evening, food was homemade and really tasty. We were sat inside, with ample room from others. Staff were really friendly. The pub has a lovely big field behind it which we made the most of, after dinner and drinks! Thank you...Star and Garter.More
During these current C-19 times, I’m pretty unhappy going out unnecessarily anyway, but when family politics get involved it’s not always as simple as just not doing it.
Having been out right next to another table, sitting less than 1m away I asked the waitress...if we could sit out sit as I was uncomfortable were we had been out.
They wanted to charge us £5 to sit in their garden shelters, and no option was afforded to sit in the numerous other seats in the restaurant.
I ended sitting at the end of the table.
When the food (burgers&chips) arrived, it was barely warmed through, and looked like the cheap thin burgers you get from bulk discount supermarkets for 10p each or in school dinners.
The whole event was uncomfortable and unfortunate.
Happy to drive straight past next time.More
Lovely evening meal. Had 3 courses and all were very tasty. Ice cold beers too which always helps!
Staff were very friendly and professional and adhered to all covid 19 regulations. Tables were all of a good distance and the igloo pods (which we had)...are funky!
Will be back for sure!More
