Popped in on two separate days while staying in Tideswell. Landlord was really welcoming and took our details for track and trace on both days. Plenty of cool doggos around the bar to pet which was cool. Nice selection of beers and table service wasnt...an issue at all.More

We stayed in Tideswell for a week and the Star was the 3rd pub we went to. Mistake to have gone to the others! Fabulous welcome from Johnny who is so organised and friendly, made us feel like locals. On the ball with Coronovirus and...no waiting being served. Food excellent value and so good cooked by Mum. Dog friendly, restricted opening times. Can't rate highly enough. Good honest pub. Spotless.More

The title says it all!! We ate there on our first night on holiday and could not believe the number of people standing in the passageway and in the bar area. It was as though social distancing was irrelevant. We did not return simply for...this reason. A real pity because the food was excellent as was the beer.More

Came in twice for dinner and both times fantastic food and service. Steak night great value on a Thursday and the steak was cooked perfect. Enjoyed both dinners and certainly would recommend as one of the best in the village for food if not the...best. Home cooked and good quality.More

Not a huge fan of Sunday roasts in general but enjoyed the roast beef to a point of saying the best I have ever had and I'm hard to please.

We visited this pub multiple times during our stay in Tideswell. The staff are friendly and welcoming, there's a good selection of beers and wine and the food is the real star. We ate roast dinner, steaks on steak night and meals off the a...La carte menu. All generous portions, excellent quality and tasty. This seems to be the busiest place in town both with locals and visitors. The staff sheppard you to your allocated table and the table service is efficient and with a smlie.More

We ate there twice during a recent stay in Tideswell. On the first occasion we had a wonderful home cooked pie and a tasty lamb shank, followed by delicious, sticky toffee pudding. On the second occasion it was steak night. A good sized rump steak,...well cooked and with all the trimmings plus bottle of wine for a very reasonable price. The staff were excellent and Johnny, the host, was very welcoming. He engaged well with all the customers in the restaurant area and in the bar next door. Id definitely go again when in the area.More

Our dogs were made extremely welcome, even given a dish of beef trimmings. This makes all the difference to our enjoyment; when dogs are merely tolerated we're constantly micromanaging the dogs to made sure they're not causing even the least inconvenience. When they're made so...welcome, we can relax more. The food was great, large portions and excellent value. Fast service. Probably the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had. When we left the restaurant, the pub was jam packed. If we'd wanted to stay for a pint the total lack of social distancing would have worried us and been reflected in the score, but as this didn't affect us if has not factored into our score.More
