Decided to take the family for an afternoon tea. Upon arriving nothing was too much trouble, our 3 year old got orange and a childs cake instead of scones. Lovely people, lovely service and a pleasant afternoon out.

If you're running a cafe in a small village that relies heavily on visitors, try being pleasant when they walk in and are polite to you, rude snappy woman who made it seem like we we were a bother to her, needless to say we didn't stay much longer and walked a little way into the main road and found... Great little cafe in Castleton, staff were friendly and service was quick considering everything was made to order. We both had one of their generously sized ciabattas which came with a lovely dressed side salad and some of the best coleslaw either us have ever had. The menu had good variety, perfect for a quick lunch or a coffee/cake stop.

Lovely shop with a delightful selection of things to buy, either sit outside or at the back there is plenty of space to eat. The homemade vegetable soup was perfectly seasoned and the broccoli and Stilton quiche was very tasty.

We just had tea and coffee but we couldn't have been made more welcome. Lovely tea shop with some gifts for sale too. Very spacious, lovely decor and good baby changing facilities.

This is definitely one of the best cafés for lunch or an afternoon snack. It's small and you have to go to the rear of the shop and order at the counter. The food is prepared quickly so you don't waste time there when you want to be visiting the village or hiking in the hills.

Sat having a loverly cup off coffee talking to the owner who have just taken over. The previous owners left very little from the gift shop leaving them with just the cafe part so they have been concentrating on that at what seems to very busy period, the staff working well together. I'm assured by the new owner that the... More

We called in and sat outside after a long walk over Mam Tor. Was served pretty prompty (inside after quickly realising that this was not table service like many of the other cafe's in Castleton). Paid nearly £8 for two drinks and one scone (ouch) and was told to take a seat outside and they would bring it out. The... More

Went with a friend who lives nearby but who had not yet tried this one. We should have guessed it wasn't great when people seated near us left half their cream tea uneaten. I had what purported to be banana milkshake, but it tasted like none I'd ever tried before, deriving neither from banana or milk. I only managed a... More
