We were really surprised at how smart this place was when we got inside. You expect old world but it's very chic with plenty of space and a lovely atmosphere. So our expectations were high right from the beginning and we weren't disappointed. All of...the food was really good (table for 4). Personally my monk fish starter and plaice main were exceptional. Service was great too - a big shout out for the wine and internet banter with the antipodean Maitre D, she helped to make it a wonderful evening. We'll definitely return, if we're allowed :)More

Nice place and friendly staff but service on the slow side. Reason for the review is that we were very disappointed with the meal. It was really watery and very little meat. Not worth the money and without doubt the worst Lasagne we have ever...had. Should have complained but service so slow we couldn't be bothered to wait.More

Friendly welcome, nice interior but I'm sorry to say, we were dissapointed with the food. A shared starter of salt cod croquettes, 5 in total, but unable to taste any cod. Mains were Kastleton Kiev, which was okay. My partner had Beef Ragu with tagliatelle,...which she said was lacking in any taste. We were expecting good things after reading so many positive TA reviews but were left a little underwhelmed.More

So glad that we booked a table at 1530 for our last night in Castleton. The menu looked delightful and the dishes we all chose tasted amazing! I had the wild mushroom, spinach and asparagus risotto which was phenomenal and most definitely the best I’ve...eaten, even in Italy. Two of our party had the chicken carbonara which they loved and the other had the meat feast pizza which was eaten with gusto. To top the experience the ladies who served us were fantastic!More

We enjoyed a really wonderful meal here. Recommend that you book ahead - it gets busy! The food is delicious, we enjoyed every dish (the lasagne is heavenly) as well as the wine. Definitely stop by here if you can!

We booked ahead (it's busy but worth booking!). Sat outside - cosy under pergola with heaters. Really good food (we both had fish then affogato). I loved the winelist - well written and an impressive array of vegan wines. Great, attentive service.

Booked a table, on the recommendation of owner of place we were staying. The menu was very impressive with a selection of intriguing dishes, even for vegetarians. The service was not rushed yet we did not feel we were hanging around. Some dishes were so...intriguing we didn't have a clue what was in them ( ie had not heard of some listed ingredients ) but the waitress educated us without patronising or belittlement. I had an issue with my dessert BUT this was dealt with and quite honestly I accept it was my problem NOT the restaurants. Finally, with the quality of the food we would have expected to pay more than we did. A culinary delight which was one of the highlights of our short break. Hope to return soonMore

I was looking for a restaurant to take my partner for his birthday and came across this gem. The service was really good with friendly smiley staff (thank you for adding a candle to his dessert to make his birthday more special). The menu had...so much variety we wanted to try so much of it. For starters we shared the salt cod croquettes- delicious! We read reviews raving about the king prawn linguini so we both went for that as our main and wow it was so tasty, fresh and well balanced. We both left full, happy, satisfied and wanting more! Thank you for a lovely evening, we will definitely return when back in the Peak District.More

This is not the sort of establishment that one would expect to see a dog. We are dog owners and lover and would not take one to 1530. However, excellent meal and setting, not to be missed. Hope that helps.
