We'd been for a lovely walk around dovedale and stopped off at Ashbourne looking for a nice cafe. We exceeded the nice in finding impromptu such a warm welcome to us and our dog Syd. We sat upstairs on the terrace and being the only...ones there Syd had run of the floor. Good choice of food to select, really tasty and speedy service with a side salad of all side salads with exceptionally fresh produce. Definitely one to go to if in the area as it's rare to get a place with such attentive service and excellent light bites!!More

New owners have done a fabulous quality refurb. Little outside terrace upstairs. Called in just as they were closing but they happily accommodated us. Really friendly. Beautifully presented pots of tea with scone and earl grey tea loaf.. Highly recommend this place.

Popped in for a quick lunch and was utterly surprised by the food, presentation and the effort that obviously goes on behind the scenes. We will be back. The roast beef and horseradish baguette was sensational!

Dropped in here for a light snack, based on the reviews here which described the efforts to make in safe from Covid 19. It was quite busy but we were found a table which was cleared and cleaned for us. The steps to make it...safe from Covid 19 were clear and impressive, including screens between tables, menus being cleaned after each use. It felt safe. We ordered tea cake and coffee. These came quickly and the coffee was tasty and strong enough. The tea cakes were large and tasted and accompanied by butter and jam. Service was friendly, efficient and safe. A good little cafe in AshbourneMore

Lovely little place on the main road towards Mayfield, Just passing through but needed a quick bite to eat so decided on a Mushroom Omelette with a couple of slices of toast. Unlike a lot of places where you get a greasy attempt this was...beautifully cooked just how I like it with no grease and an abundance of mushrooms, all washed down with a nice cup of coffee. The staff were lovely and smiling, happy and felt very at ease here.More

Sanitizer, track and trace and transparent protective screens were between the tables so we felt very safe. I had the baked goats cheese salad and it was absolutely delicious, packed with so many different ingredients. The owner came over for a chat and she was...a lovely, pleasant lady.More

A lovely quaint cafe on entry into the town from the tissington trail through the tunnel exit. Called in for breakfast a bit busy on entry but found seating upstairs and outside on the rooftop However did get the feeling the staff forgot about us...but went down and ordered and no issues. Eggs benedict with salmon very nice and recommend Hubby full English ate every bit of it Would go back definitely and recommend for breakfastMore

Great breakfast. The difference is that the ingredients they use are top quality. Great Bacon and black pudding.

This cafe has a excellent reputation locally so we thought we ought to check it out for ourselves. I was surprised by the range of daily specials on the blackboard, so as well as the usual range of sandwiches and salads that you would expect...there were such dishes as lamb casserole and chicken curry (which were our choices - I've forgotten the rest!). Neither could be faulted, and the service from the owner and her chirpy band of young helpers was equally good. Now that we've found out how good it is we plan to visit on a regular basis - we live within walking distance and tend to only visit cafes when on holiday - so in that sense the Chancellor's promotion [at the taxpayers' expense] has certainly done it's job! Covid Safe measures included single use menues and clear plastic drapes between the tables, so in that respect more secure than most similar establishments.More
