Had a wonderful meal here last week. I had a gorgeous sirloin steak and my partner had a lamb casserole which was equally scrumptious. Desserts were divine. Nice comfortable pub with great service. Hope to visit again when next in area.

Meeting friends at this half way house to celebrate a momentous birthday. Service food and atmosphere was all we could have wished for. Thank you so much.

Pub itself nice with warm open fires, but food not the best. Left most of it but not asked why. Kind of a sad feel to the place.

Really nice Sunday lunch with decent portion sizes and just all round good food. The pub was warm and cozy pub, with very friendly and helpful staff (despite being pretty busy)…just what was needed after a walk with friends

Visited for a standard roast lunch on a Sunday, one of us having beef and the other pork; one having a duck-leg samosa starter and the other a New York cheesecake desert (so hopefully a fair representation). Overall quality excellent (albeit beef preferred to the...pork); tables well spaced and service from a couple of young lads very good. Some contributors have bemoaned the lack of a warm welcome - which is true as the proprietor is, shall we say, very reserved - but if you don't take it personally you'll still enjoy your meal here! Reservations a good idea and I liked the fact that the table reservation signs showed the name in which the booking had been made.More

In a party of 8. The two steaks were awful mine uneatable it was so grisly. Other meals were good. Staff uninterested in resolving issue. On balance wouldn't return as I now know if there were any further issues that I'd just have to live...with it.More

Came in for drinks and dinner following a very long walk. The inside of the pub is very comfortable and we did in fact stay for hours! Dinner was lovely and desert was divine (New York cheesecake). The only downside was the unfriendly bartender on...arrival, with slightly surly service. Waiting staff were very friendly and pleasant. We did overhear a woman attempting to come into the pub with her dog and was turned away.. GOOD FOR YOU! There are too many “dog friendly” pubs now so it is most refreshing to have a pub not entertain this. Not everyone wants to relax with barking dogs in their presence!More
