So good we visited twice in one day! Tea cakes and tea then lunch and more tea. Lunch was very popular but helpful waitress suggested return in 20 minutes which was successful. Would definitely visit again.

Quaint, interesting surroundings in attractive market town, staff pleasant, helpful and efficient. Crowded tables, broad selection of food and drinks, scone stale and jam tasteless.

Called in to this fascinating shop / tea room for drink & snack break whilst shopping in town. The aroma from the shop's supply of tea & coffee products is tempting & the quality & choice of meals, snacks & drinks enough for any taste. StFf are courteous and efficient. Well worth a visit.

Ordered the afternoon tea, uninteresting sandwiches, one choice of cake that was soggy and too large. The scones were dry as was the cream, couldn't decipher between the jam flavours...friendly service and lovely inside.. May try the savoury dishes if I went again...

We travelled here because we had seen it on TV and it looked very attractive. It's a shame because the place looks so nice and the concept of an old fashioned tea shop is great. The service was fine but the food was not good. Stale overly sweet scone; dried up clotted cream and red jam that you couldn't tell... More

Reason for visiting Ulverston was to see Gillam's tearoom/shop since seeing it recently on TV -it was as small as expected, good service and excellent cheese scones were enjoyed, various types of tea were for sale and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the place from the shopkeeper behind the counter (he may have been the owner)

Visited for lunch, three of us. Tables down stairs and up. I had the rarebit with a local cheese, served in a little pot with side salad. Very tasty. We all had coffee and cakes, lovely selection. The service was very pleasant young people but a little slow. They were advertising for more staff so this must have been recognised.... More
