We visited for lunch after reading the reviews on trip advisor. The reviews are very accurate this place is a gem. Food and service were fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to return.

The Captain Nelson (No, not that Nelson, he rose to become an admiral before ending up kissed by Hardy and dumped in his barrel of brandy; this one was a local skipper) is easily accessed on the edge of Maryport's dock area. The only downside...More

Dropped in one lunchtime largely on account of the TripAdvisor reviews but I must admit to being slightly disappointed by the meals received. We decided on fish & chips and scampi & chips. The fish and scampi were nice enough but the chips were distinctly...More

We are in the process of training a new chef who is very busy learning new skills to prepare and cook food to our high standards. The new chef is now coming along very nicely. Please accept apologises. Kind regards Chris

Regarding Micheal's comments. He normally eats in Weatherspoons and travelled from Newcastle to our pub to eat and kicked up about paying 9 or 10 quid for our 16 oz fresh haddock and hand cut chips. He expected the same prices when there is is absolutely no comparison. He was told his review was unfair which in our opinion it was.
