Once Upon A Time .... this Pub was TARPORLEY's finest. Whatever has happened with the new landlords, it is going in the wrong direction. It lacks atmosphere now because it lacks customers whereas it was always busy in the past. The "attitude" certainly doesn't help when they post an angry young man to the "patrons car park" telling residents to... More

Firstly, thank you for your review Phil I would like to apologise for the high inconvenience you have received having to park in a private car park belonging to the Rising Sun (clearly displayed on the entrance to the car park & also on the wall too) when you are-by your own admission (on more than 1 occasion) using the... Me and my partner decided to call in on Monday lunch time, we couldn't of been more pleased with how friendly the young girl was. She was very helpful with our questions and she was very polite and made sure everything was ok with our meals. The food was ok but could be better just a little basic but not... More

Lovely friendly pub. Great food with substantial portions. Staff very friendly and a lovely team feeling from them. Was just a quick meal before going back home. Cosy x Real ale, real pub.

After being away from the village for a while me and my parents decided to have a meal in the rising sun. The current land lord has finally got the food right and the beer is still brilliant. It is the first time I have seen my dad struggle to finish a meal which was really nice as I had... More

We visited for lunch on a cold wintery day after finding another local pub we usually frequent was closed. Lovely lunch, staff and nice old pub. Lunch was very enjoyable and although the pub needs a bit of a 'facelift' (in the kindest way) we enjoyed our time at The Sun.

My cheese/onion pie included a lot of mash potato & puff pastry and served with chips - very weird - a bit of a mess! My wife's chicken was poor quality - she could only eat 50% of it! Two other customers took all the batter off their fish to eat it! Only a handful of customers on a Sunday... More

We stopped here for lunch on the way home from holiday in Herefordshire. It's well over ten years since our last visit to the Rising Sun and I thought the place was looking a bit tired and in need of redecorating. We found the staff a bit strange. Not exactly unwelcoming but not really that friendly either; definitely not service... More

Really engined our meals good pub grub we both had food from the special board and really enjoyed and would come again. Lots of private seating areas do you don't feel on top of other dinners.

My father and I dined here at lunchtime and enjoyed a couple of real ales. I live in Tarporley and highly recommend this place. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit.
