Once again, we visited Bacchus, this time as a midweek treat from the children.
As usual, we had a wonderful time and Mike and the staff were excellent.
Looking forward to this weekend as we are all going again.
Booked for Sunday lunch and from 1pm to 3.30 inclusive, they were fully booked.
The tables were well spaced out and we were seated by the window at the front.
3 course inclusive menu, reasonably priced and an extensive wine list.
Friendly service, both laid...back and professional. I'm not big on getting my wine poured but the wine waiter was friendly and I did feel bad when I got a drop of wine on the white tablecloth when pouring my own.
The food was delicious, we all enjoyed it. I've not had lamb as tender as that before, just perfect. Only one complaint was the Sea Bass, which was lacking in taste apparently.
Looking forward to our next visit.More
This is a smart restaurant located in Prestbury village. The dining room is large and tables spaced suitably. Staff are attentive and friendly. There is the option of a set menu which seems very good value, or the a la carte. All the dishes we...had were very tasty and served piping hot. Many options to choose from. The wine list is good and champagne nicely chilled and generously served. We didn’t sample the desserts, but will next time! This is a great addition to the village and deserves to do well. It’s not often I visit a restaurant where I felt the staff genuinely cared if we enjoyed the food and if we were having a nice evening. They made a very good impression on us and our custom felt valued. The slight hesitation I would have is that none of the staff wear masks or visors. This would have elevated our level of comfort to eat out during the Covid pandemic. Give this place a try, it’s a great choice.More
Our dinner at Bacchus was our first meal out in five months. We weren’t to be disappointed. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. All front of house staff kept to the necessary ‘distancing’ rules and tables were spaced accordingly. The two course set...dinner at around £20 is excellent value. I chose from the a la carte menu. The cheese soufflé and my venison main were superb. Wine choices are great value.More
Coronoavirus hasn't gone away but we were so pleased to be squeezed in at the first opportunity after the lock down of pubs and restaurants. Booked up the day after the announcement but Bacchus organised at table for us at 6pm and we were chuffed....Being the last two people to review the Chestergate Bistro before lock down, it was great to see my fellow Macclesfield Tripadvisor reviewer, sassyNorthWest, on the next table.
I'd expected things to be quite formal but they had the balance just right, genuinely friendly staff. The gentleman serving the food wore a mask but everyone else just respected the safe distance and we were largely left alone to enjoy the food and wine.
We had the three courses; the prawn and crayfish cocktail was anything but traditional and the Eton Mess Crème Brûlée was the best way to finish any meal. At £30, I thought it was good value. We shared a bottle of Sauvignon which was also very reasonably priced.
We'll be back here soon for sure.More
Visited Bacchus Prestbury today for Lunch. Booked in advance and advised that one person had allergy issues. Welcomed by Paul on arrival, and after being seated he made suggestions regarding the menu for the allergies. Great lunch menu to choose from. Waiter Mo was excellent...and provided great friendly service throughout. Food was absolutely superb so thanks to Chef Ethan. Had a very good House Spanish Red Wine which was not only well priced but really good quality. Overall an excellent experience and we will certainly return here and to its sister restaurant 39 Steps Styal. Thanks to all concerned.More

Personally, when the chef takes a lot of trouble presenting his dish, I think it reasonable to dress appropriately; so for me it would still be jacket and tie, and maybe remove the jacket if it was in keeping with other diners. That said, my adult son would be happier in open neck shirt and smart casuals. When going out for a splendid meal, it is better to dress appropriately than dress as if you were visiting a cafe.
