This is a small and friendly pub. There are a lot of pubs to choose from in Middlewich, but this is our favourite, especially after a walk along the canal, or on a sunny Sunday afternoon

Have eaten here on several occasions. The food (unusually now) is prepared and cooked not microwaved and you can taste the difference. The staff are friendly and efficient. Good selection of real ales and newly arrived Peroni Strongly recommend.

Ate here yesterday. I had the lamb and my partner had the sea bass. Both were lovely and great value. I have not scored it 5 out of 5 because my lamb was slightly chewy but that did not spoil it for me. It was...More

Called in for lunch. Wonderful log fire making the place warm and cozy. Lunch was excellent, home cooked fat chips and my steak baguette was lovely, the steak was tender and just the right amount of Stilton so not overpowered. Looking forward to sampling the...More

Description
A traditional canal side watering hole, steeped in waterways culture and heritage. Boat shaped bar features no corporates but 6 local craft ales and 3 local craft lagers are made available alongside real ciders and perrys. The food is quite simply out of this world, locally sourced of course, contemporary interpretations of heritage cuisine using traditional methods. Chef Tom's fresh and loving preparation of all dishes reflects his passion for cooking and the satisfaction he gets from delivering more than is expected. Enjoy lively folk sessions in the bar and waterside entertainment in the summer, including the Middlewich Folk 'n' Boat Festival in June. Slow down, take a break and find a way to enjoy Dean's hospitality and The King's Lock Experience.
