It's a cozy little place where you can get the night started. The food is good and they usually have good live music. Owner is very friendly and makes you feel like a good time even if you are there alone.
Last night was our first real dinner out since COVID. Having been “locked up” for a while, we were ready for a relaxed evening of good food and music. A jazz trio, sax, bass and percussion, provided excellent music, topped off with Miles’ Kinda Blue....Beautiful! Later in the evening, a guitarist named Ross sat in with them and showed his jazz guitar chops. Despite not having played together before, all four musicians were able play in sync. We highly recommend this venue if you are in the mood for good food, music and fun. BTW: Casa Domenech is certified by Jalisco for proper social distancing.More
This is one of those places not everyone knows about, cozy with art-covered walls, exceptional Argentinian food, and different small music groups playing for dinner, mostly jazz and dinner-style music. Love the place, love the owner Ray, but I definiely go there for the food!
Where to start?
The food ... a delight to the taste, from salmon to dessert, do not miss its exquisite crepe de dulce de leche. The best wine selection, the perfect pairing with the best jazz ... breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best place to...be.More
When my wife and I walked in we were asked if we had reservations. There was nobody in the place! We didn't, of course, and the gentleman at the desk/register said "There's plenty of time"; so we were seated. So now let me entertain you...with the culinary delights we found.
We did our normal thing: wife ordered gazpacho; I ordered chorizo for appetizers. We always share everything to the delight of our tastebuds. Both were delicious; in our system my wife won the appetizer round. The gazpacho was tasty, cooling, everything a chilled soup should be. It was marginally better than the sausage, only because of the light quality before a meal.
She had the shrimp with mole sauce; I had the salmon on a bed of guacamole. Tie!! No clear winner here. Halfway through dinner we switched plates and finished it off. Still no clear winner. Nothing better than a tie of delicious foods!! Nothing bad here.
When we started the evening, the server asked us about drinks. I asked for a Paloma. She did not seem to know what it was, even though this drink was invented in Guadalajara many years ago. But when I described it, she came back with an almost perfect Paloma. Go figure, and Bravo!!
Our only regret was that we were unable to stay for the live music (which was the reason for reserved seating, naturally). All the regulars piled in with great anticipation for the evening's activities. Se la vie!More
Casa Domench is known for its consistently delicious food and great live music most nights of the week. Ray Domenech, the proprietor of this neighborhood restaurant also knows how to create some delicious sauces, which are an absolute must to try when one goes to...Casa D for Saturday enchilada brunch. The mole sauce, is absolutely the best mole I’ve ever had, a very complex flavored topping. There are different fillings and sauces to pair together, and the most difficult thing is to figure out which is the favorite! The various fillings and sauces can accommodate all...meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. If you haven’t been to Casa Domenech yet, you’ve missed out. Give it a try, and you’ll be back, again and again.More

Following other TA reviews, we decided on brunch here the first morning of our visit to Ajijic. We were warmly greeted by Ray. The menu had so many interesting combos of flavors and ingredients it was difficult to choose. Our meals were well prepared and...presented. We also learned about the nightly music events. We were advised to come early or make reservations. I look forward to coming back during our stay and dining to music in this cozy, colorful venue.More
