The restaurant has the historical atmosphere of Old Salem. I had brunch and dinner there, both had a good selection of interesting dishes

Came here with the family for a Christmas dinner. Not much of a selection, but the chicken pie was good. Looks like you have to have a reservation due to limited seating, and it takes awhile to get your food. Good atmosphere (old house in old salem) just wish they had more of a selection.

This is a restaurant tucked away on a street within the Old Salem attraction community. The facility itself is a large, old house which seemed to have limited seating. (For instance, the bar area is a 12' x 12' room off the main entry hallway.) The old house as a backdrop reminded me of Zevely House or Christopher's (long closed)... More

My friend wanted to eat here. We did not have reservations so we were treated like the unwanted. The hostess gave us this 'how dare you show up without resevations' attitude. Considering they were not busy we found this off putting. We get seated and it is cold. There were gas logs in the fireplace but no one turned them... More

Chicken stew was outstanding pumpkin muffins are worth fighting for. Atmosphere is very nice for couples. Desserts should be eaten first.

My friend and I went in during the week after Christmas, without a reservation. The wait was to be about 45 minutes. We just gave them our name, and strolled around and visited some shops. We returned about 35 minutes later and were quickly seated within five minutes. The food was excellent. I have lived in this area all my... More

We had dinner on the day before Christmas Eve. The service was excellent and the food well prepared. We love the atmosphere and the history related to this establishment. Make certain you have reservations as this place is always booked for lunches and dinners.

The quaint, historic atmosphere adds to the charm of The Tavern, but the excellent food is the reason we would return. We enjoyed the chicken pie and filet but managed to save room for dessert. The gingerbread with lemon ice cream and apple strudel were the perfect way to end the meal!
