Even though I live in the area, it's been quite some time since I last ate here. With out-of-town company in for a visit, I thought it would be nice to take them to the Tavern in Old Salem. I was surprised that this is NOT the same restaurant I had patroned in the past. On the contrary, this is... More

Had the wonderful Chicken Pie, but was disappointed that it did not have a salad with the dinner. Service and food was excellent.

Although the wait was an hour, the food was delicious and service attentive but not intrusive. Colonial tavern atmosphere and fare.

We had the liver dinner and chicken plate. This was served very warm and very tasty. For desert we had the chocolate pecan pie and bread pudding. The breads were amazing. The coffee was a little too strong for my taste but with adding cream it was wonderful. The prices were okay. The service was very good. We will certainly... More

I love taking business clients here, whether local or out of town. Its situated right in Old Salem, and the menu has a balance of creative/tradition to it. Everything is beautifully presented, and has its roots in the German / Southern heritage that is Moravian.

Had a great meal for a family outing. We all got different dishes and no one was disappointed. I had the rainbow trout and it was outstanding. The catfish got great reviews as well. Salads were very good and ample size. Environment was nice. Rooms could get a little noisy when restaurant is at peak. Service was superb, could not... More

Went here for lunch because the reviews on tripadvisor were very good. Well it definitely did not disappoint! I had the pot roast (very tender)and my wife had the chicken (not pot pie) pie. We also had the bread service, for an extra 3 bucks, which included angel biscuits and pumpkin muffins. Probably the best three bucks I ever spent!... More

While in Old Salem, there are not many choices for lunch, at least if you want to stay on the premises for the day. The Tavern is really it. Therefore, I thought it would be a not very good tasting tourist trap. Boy was I wrong, The food is delicious!! The food is modern options with a colonial / moravian... More

You will love this quaint restaurant. We all tried different things and it was delicious! Save room for dessert!! Pictures show fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese hamburger, Rueben, and the club. Yum!

Loved eating at the old Tavern and it's friendly, historical atmosphere! I got the Moravian Chicken Pie and my husband got the smoked sausage. Both were great! We were there for lunch and it is a little pricey but I will go back and try another one of their dishes. They also have soup, salad and sandwiches. Excellent choice!
