Le Catalan was well-reviewed on Trip Advisor but surprisingly not one of the top ten in Wilmington. I cannot imagine why. This is an unpretentious, remarkably well-priced bistro with many classic French bistro dishes prepared perfectly, served promptly and hot, on a wood deck overlooking the Cape Fear River. We dined as the sun was setting across the river and... More

The food menu is very limited. the wine selection is above average for the river front in Wilmington.

We reserved a table upstairs and it was perfect for 7. Service was impeccable and the food outstanding for everyone. Ranging in age fro 12 to 76, everyone enjoyedit... hard for a restaurant to do. There was much sharing of food around the table showing the delight with the whole process. This has to be the best in Wilmington.

We had been walking all afternoon, and decided to stop at this cute little bistro. I was in for in a great treat, starting with a lovely chicken curry salad, Hubby had the beef hotdogs in puff pastry. We were both thrilled! We most definitely will be back here the next time we are in Wilmington, North Carolina. This was... More

We stopped here for lunch because, although dogs on leash are common in the historic district, this was one of the few dog friendly eateries in the area. The setting outside on the patio is quite nice. The sturdy tables are appreciated. We had a quiche and the charcuterie plate. A little pricey. The selection on the plate was good... More

My husband and I went to Le Catalan for an early dinner. The indoor dining space was very cosy and our table gave us a good view of the Cape Fear river. We did the red and white wine tasting and were impressed with the offerings given. During the tasting we had the Mediterranean trio as an appetizer. Each of... More

I like this little place. But the prices are high, the menu doesn't change much, and the portions are quite small. I lived in France for 14 years....It is unthinkable for a French bistro to charge $1.50 for a little more bread. Bread is a staple in every French restaurant, and you NEVER pay for it. If you want seconds... More

We stopped here for a late lunch after our river cruise. The venue is quaint and beautiful. The server made great food recommendations - carmelized onion quiche and shrimp and orzo gratin. Yum. But it was the staff that made it unforgettable. Highly recommended

Wow, what a nice location for a sun set dinner. The view of the Cape Fear and lookout at the USD North Carolina as boats of all types pass by is very tranquil. The food and service here is excellent. We highly recommend that you add this to your dinning bucket list.

Chilly evening, but we braved the breeze to enjoy al fresco hors d'overs at sun set. Lovely views, intriguing menu. Bordeaux and Pino Grigio, charcuterie, cheese plate, escargot en croute, superb French bread and there you have it, a perfect start to an evening. Full dinner is available, but the wining and noshing was very, very good.
