A Rocky Mount Landmark. This is a great place for lunch. The hamburgers made Eastern NC style with mustard, onions, cole slaw and chili are wonderful as well as the traditional Eastern NC lunch the ever favorite hot dog. They have really tasty fries as well. Nothing fancy here. You are served on paper. It is handicapped accessible.

Try the burgers hotdogs and fries. Mix hot sauce with your ketchup and dip fries in it, so good. I get cheeseburger with chili, mayo and onions, and yes it's great.

There is an on-going argument about which is better, the Central hotdog or the Central cheeseburger. My vote is for the hotdog. Go for the dog with mustard, chili, and slaw. The to-go dogs are even better. Something about riding the dogs around in your car while they saute' in that paper bag makes them even better. Man, now I'm... More

I have been eating here since I was a child. Don't expect fancy but the burgers are simple and delicious! Hand patted and dressed however you choose. Hot dogs are equally yummy. You might hafta wait in line or you might get invited to sit with some folks that have room at their table. I am convinced that the Coca... More

This is one of those Cafe's that all of us locals know about and visit often. Best Cheeseburger's and hot dogs period! But this visit, WHAT HAPPENED? Hamburger bun's were cold as if they just came out of the wrapper. And their slaw is second to none but this trip the cabbage was in huge chunks and dry. To be... More

I love eating their hot dogs and cheeseburgers that is what they do best. Now that I'm not working it seems that I just don't think about driving downtown to eat.

Greasy burgers that remind you that the pre-formed, frozen patties served at fast-food restaurants weren't always the norm. You can order at the counter if you want your food to go, or take a seat at any open table if you want to eat in, and a waitress will make her way to your table. It's a laid-back sort of... More

My family has eaten here for years and it is a favorite. Delicious burgers and fries are our favorites. Tea or sodas, hotdogs and some breakfast items too. Always served on little pieces of waxed paper so no dishes to wash or waste. Good food and always busy. Go and enjoy! :)

So your asking yourself "what is this place seemingly so off the beaten path?" If you know someone in Rocky Mount, chances are they grew up eating hotdogs on a Saturday at Central. This is a genuine, no-frills, down-home soda-counter burger joint, where you with worth-your-while wait for a table on the weekend. But what no one tells you upon... More
