Hard to beat this iconic Italian restaurant for good food and great nostalgia (even for non-NC State fans)! Great service too!

Been eating at Amedeo’s since mid-70s and will not eat there again Food good as usual, but service painfully done due to server who has no concept of batching her task. Heard several times after bringing one item that “oh I’ll bring you that” when...asking for something ordered. Then we see her serving a couple of other tables. For example, brought wife her tea then was told “oh, I’ll bring you the ginger ales”. Why not bring them together? Ordered a beer to come out with pizza. Had to wait for server to come by table after pizza served to say “oh, I’ll bring your beer”. Wife and daughter shared the lasagna with a request for a 2nd plate. Lasagna brought out with no 2nd plate then on next visit to table server asked if we wanted a 2nd plate. Then there was the request for a 2nd ginger ale for my daughter. Server asked if I wanted another one too and I said no, I’m having the beer with my pizza. Finally about time we are finished 2 ginger ales show up. My last visit to Amedeo’s had a similar delay with a 2nd beer request to where it arrived after we had requested a to go box. Then I was told if I did not want it they would take the cost out of the server’s pay. The insult to injury happened tonight when we got the bill. They charge for refills at $3.50 each. So the bill got padded for a drink I said I did not want. Server would not adjust the bill which started my frustration. It got worst when I noticed the 12” build your own pizza was billed at $3 per topping when the menu showed $2.50 per topping. I brought this to the servers attention and after she walked away, which I assume was to talk with her manager, she answered that the computer had it at $3 per topping and I must have looked at a lunch menu with only an apology that the menu price was different. It was not the extra $.50, but the principle considering we ordered from dinner menu. I was not satisfied with this answer, but nothing changed. Left telling myself, never again.More
Our waiter, Abdul, was fabulous. He took great care of us and checked on us often. Upon arrival we had asked for a more private table as we had not seen each other in awhile and needed to talk freely. He provided the perfect seating....We all had the lunch specials of pasta and a salad. The food was wonderful!More
The food was awesome the service was and absolute nightmare didn’t receive bread at my table until I asked for it had to wait 35 minutes to receive my appetizer and another 35 minutes for my food. A couple across from me came in after...me and received bread and their food before I did! When I asked for the manager and told him about the situation all he said was OKAY. Told him we didn’t receive any sauce for our tenders he says oh you want hot sauce? Then to top off this service my card was ran and the manager says he needed to run it again when I already seen an approved transaction on my accountMore
A Raleigh treasure for decades. Everyone’s been here; just check the photos on the walls. Ask for the best waiter - Shannon, order a renowned sweet tea, order the famous lasagna or seafood fettuccine and get ready for the to-die-for warm, soft, fresh baked Italian...bread. And if you really love NCSU Basketball - you know.More
Great place to eat. The restaurant side was closed when we were there but seating in the bar section at regular tables was available. The waitress was super friendly and helpful with suggestions. We had a calzone and a Stromboli (half price on Thursdays too!!!)....They were huge and they were delicious. I would definitely return here if I’m ever in Raleigh again. Lots of NC State sports memorabilia.More
Just the place to go if you are a NC State fan. The entire restaurant is covered with NC State athletic pictures. The booths are are dedicated ton athlete or a sport. State sports history thru rhe years. The food is always excellent and the...service is very friendly and helpful. My wife and I started with garlic bread and then she had lasagna and I had a meat lovers calzone. Both were excellent.More
We ordered a large group take out order. Everything was ready upon arrival, very hot and everyone was very pleased with their order. HIGHLY recommend!!!
Started out with the Cheese Bread, italian bread with Mozzarella Cheese and Marinara dipping sauce. My husband had the calzone that is pictured. It was the meat lovers and enough food for 3. I had the chicken cactitore. Both were delicious. The restaurant was very...accommodating with our grandson who is 9 months. I would highly recommend this restaurant.More
I think people come to Amedeo's for the fun, college atmosphere - there's NC State garb/decorations all over and it is very close to campus. The food isn't quite authentic Italian, but is good food. Service is good, as well. There's a reason they've been...around for awhile! Check it out, hopefully you'll enjoy it!More
I haven't been to Amedeo's for some time now but it's always been a favorite place of mine since 1965 when my family and I first discovered it. Back then they had their version of cherry coke that was one of my favorites. That said...my wife and I stopped by for dinner and we ordered a salad with chicken and the lasagna. My wife said her salad hardly had anything in it aside from some chicken, three cherry tomatoes, a few croutons, and a few onion pieces. My lazagna was over baked and bland. A bit of sauce would have been nice. Also it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive and the place was not packed with customers. I hope to return with a better experience in the future. Maybe it was a bad night.More
As always, when unsure where to go, I checked TripAdvisor for restaurants nearby. Amedeo’s had excellent food, prices and the most amazing cannoli I have ever had. A Wolfpack hardcore fan where servers wear its shirts. Booth was somewhat tight and service was friendly. Going...back for sure on my next visit.More
Lovely meal here last week. Portions huge - we were able to take leftovers away - drinks good and reasonable prices. Lasagne yummy as was the chicken pasta and parmigiana. Cosy interesting place with good service!
The pizza is delicious! Love the atmosphere and very friendly service. Definitely going back to relax after a long day at work!
Always eat here before plays at NCSU theater. Great lasagna and pizza but everything we have tried on the menu is good. Service is outstanding.
